Doctoral Students in Nanoelectronic Memory Devices

Do you want to explore the future of nanoelectronics and develop next-generation devices beyond the limits of silicon? Join Chalmers and contribute to cutting-edge research on two-dimensional semiconductors, focusing on advanced memory technologies in a world-class research environment. About us The https://www.chalmers.se/en/departments/mc2/ advances the frontiers in quantum technology, nanoscience, photonics and future electronic systems - for technical and societal development. Our cross-disciplinary approach gives interesting collaborations in academy, industry and society, and is a driving force for innovations, results and breakthroughs. We offer a vibrant, international research environment and direct access to world-class nanofabrication facilities. Under the supervision of Dr. Anton Persson, who recently joined from Stanford University, you will become part of the Division of Microwave Electronics which has doctoral students and senior researchers from both industry and academia working with semiconductor technology development, circuit design, and the realization of complete system demonstrations. About the research project The continuous miniaturization of silicon-based electronics has driven the technological progress for decades. However, as devices now approach atomic scales, the fundamental laws of physics increasingly hinder further advances. To sustain the pace of innovation, both academia and industry have started exploring alternative materials, devices, and circuit architectures, particularly in the rapidly expanding field of artificial intelligence (AI) accelerator hardware. Atomically thin two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) semiconductors have emerged as highly promising candidates to either significantly complement or even replace silicon in future electronics. In this project, your doctoral research will focus on developing novel memory transistors based on TMDs that enable functionality beyond the limits of silicon. The project covers nanofabrication, semiconductor device physics, electrical and materials characterization as well as low-level system integration, benefiting from one of the largest cleanrooms in European academia and our uniquely well-equipped electrical characterization laboratory. Doctoral student in Advanced microscopy of Zr alloys for nuclear reactors

Are you interested in advancing materials for safe and reliable nuclear power using cutting-edge characterization techniques? Join our team at Chalmers to explore corrosion mechanisms in zirconium alloys at the atomic scale and contribute to the development of next-generation nuclear materials. About us The research at the Division of Microstructure Physics focuses on experimental investigations of engineering materials using advanced characterization techniques. Doctoral Student in Developing PEM Fuel Cells through Multiscale Modeling

Do you want to use advanced simulation methods to understand and improve the performance of fuel cells? Join Chalmers and contribute to atomistic modeling of catalytic reactions to enhance the stability of proton-exchange membrane fuel cells. About us Chemical Physics develops sustainable energy systems by using heterogeneous (electro) catalysis for alternative fuel production, emission control, energy storage, and fuel cells. The research is interdisciplinary with strong connections between fundamental and applied science. Chemical Physics is a dynamic and international environment that strives for scientific excellence through teamwork and combined theoretical and experimental efforts. The theoretical activities at Chemical Physics focus on electronic structure calculations within density functional theory together with mean-field modeling and Monte Carlo simulations for reaction kinetics. By linking quantum mechanical calculations with kinetic modeling, it is possible to bridge both length and time scales. About the research project Proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) convert the chemical energy in hydrogen to electrical energy. The main parts of a PEMFC are the anode, cathode, and electrolyte. The reactions at the anode and cathode electrodes are catalyzed by metal nanoparticles on carbon. A current issue for large-scale implementation of PEMFC technology is long-term stability. The project will use atomistic first-principles methods to understand the governing mechanisms for fuel cell degradation. Increased understanding of the governing processes will provide information on how catalysts could be improved and how the system should be operated to minimize degradation. The project is a collaboration between Volvo Technology AB and Chemical Physics at Chalmers.
