About Amerikanska Gymnasiet, Gothenburg On Lindholmen, next to Karlatornet, is our newly built school where we moved in fall 2024. The school has approximately 590 students studying in the Natural Science, Technology, Economics, or Social Science programs. Teaching is conducted in both Swedish and English by a competent and dedicated teaching team. Within the staff group there is a strong sense of community. About the Position As an academic and career counselor, you work with individual coaching and guidance for our students. You handle enrollment of new students, follow up on our school queue, and maintain contact with new students and their guardians. You are responsible for continuous follow-up of students' exam prognosis in each year group, handle reporting to CSN, and manage other tasks included in the career counselor role. You work closely with the school's student health team in preventive and promotional work. The student health team includes a school nurse, counselor, special education teacher, and rector. The role also includes administrative work and work in various administrative systems such as Admentum, StudyBee, and Google Drive. As an academic and career counselor, you primarily work from the front desk where you conduct most of your conversations with students. You will also have access to a back office for certain administrative tasks. This is a permanent position at 50-100%, with an initial probationary period of 6 months. Start date as soon as possible or by agreement. Your Profile We are looking for someone who is trained as an academic and career counselor, with a degree, and preferably someone who also has at least a couple of years of experience working as an academic and career counselor. It is also an advantage if you have worked with upper secondary school students. You have experience coaching and guiding students, as well as experience working closely with the student health team. You are expected to have good communication in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written, and you have solid digital skills. You have a professional approach when meeting with students, colleagues, and guardians, and good insight into people's different circumstances. You collaborate easily and create good working relationships with a coaching and mentoring approach. As a person, you are solution-oriented, unpretentious, and flexible. You see opportunities and always guide challenges and problems toward solutions. You have a thoroughly positive attitude.
