About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. When we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and inmate transport. The Norrtälje Operations Area is part of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's Stockholm region and includes the Norrtälje prison. We are undergoing a major capacity expansion, and much is happening in the operations area in the form of renovations and new construction. Within a few years, we are expected to have capacity for approximately 600 inmates and approximately 450 employees. The largest occupational group is prison officers, but we also employ healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production managers, and others.
