Research at the Department of Botany focuses on biodiversity, evolution, morphology, taxonomy, phylogeny, and biogeography within a large number of different plant and fungal groups. 1 position(s). DUTIES We are seeking a researcher (Senior Curator/Unit Leader) to establish an independent research program focused on collection-based systematic-evolutionary questions within one of the unit's organism groups, primarily with an emphasis on basidiomycetes or land plants. The position also includes the role of unit leader. This means you have overall responsibility for the unit's research process and provide administrative support to the unit head in work with budget, activity planning, recruitment, results reporting, and collection of results metrics for the annual report. You will also have overall responsibility for one of the unit's relevant subcollections. Work in public contexts, teaching at the university level, and participation in cross-agency work and various projects within the museum's activities may also be included. As unit leader, you are also the unit head's deputy. This includes, among other things, participating in management group meetings and management forums when the unit head is absent. QUALIFICATIONS Requirements: • Ph.D. in systematic biology (or equivalent) with a focus on basidiomycetes, mosses, or vascular plants • Independent scientific production within collection-based systematics, including taxonomy and nomenclature, at a high international level • Ability to seek and obtain external research grants • Leadership experience • Knowledge of and experience in botanical-mycological collection work • Experience with outreach activities • Good knowledge of a Scandinavian language and English, both spoken and written, and willingness to learn Swedish if not a native Swedish speaker • Strong and active interest in and knowledge of biodiversity (species knowledge) You need to be organized with a good ability to plan and structure work tasks effectively. This position is housed in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, known for its collegial, international, and dynamic research environment. Our current research focuses on the use CYP2C19 is a highly polymorphic enzyme involved in the metabolism of many drugs and endogenous lipids, making it one of the most clinically important pharmacogenes. Beyond drug metabolism, CYP2C19 regulates lipid pathways influencing vascular function, inflammation, cholesterol homeostasis, and broader metabolic processes. We will investigate why fetal CYP2C19 expression induces inflammation in the developing hippocampus, leading to neuronal degeneration in the adult dentate gyrus causing anxiety and depression in adult life identifying molecular pathways relevant for future antidepressant development. Reduced CYP2C19 function has been associated with increased risk of myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke, suggesting broader roles in cardiovascular disease. Using advanced human liver spheroids and brain organoids, we will study CYP2C19 in lipid metabolism in relation to cardiovascular risk, by identifying CYP2C19-dependent lipid pathways providing new insights into mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders and arteriosclerosis. Your Profile We are seeking a motivated candidate with at least one year of hands-on laboratory experience and practical skills in RT-PCR, Western blotting, and cell culture. Experience in immunohistochemistry, imaging techniques, and molecular biology methods is highly desirable. Previous work with brain tissues is a merit. You will join a dynamic research team of approximately six researchers and contribute to several ongoing projects focused on the biological functions of CYP2C19. Your primary responsibilities will include: · Analysis of lipids regulated by CYP2C19 using advanced 3D human liver spheroids as an experimental model. · Characterization of developmental alterations in the fetal brain caused by CYP2C19 overexpression using approaches such as immunohistochemistry, RNA sequencing, and ELISA. · Development and use of in vitro macrophage activation systems to investigate whether CYP2C19-dependent lipid mediators promote inflammatory pathways relevant to atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. The House of Knowledge houses these operations together with the adult education center and the cultural school. You will work together with other principals in a local management team and participate in work carried out in the municipality's principal group, a forum for leadership and experience sharing. In your role, you will have central support in matters concerning student health, HR, economics, digitalization, facilities, quality and development work, analysis, and legal issues. As a principal: - you have responsibility for operations, personnel, work environment, and finances. - you are responsible for ensuring that content, development, and results follow national and local goals and governing documents. - you create conditions for learning and motivation around the joy of learning more. - you strive for an equitable school with high goal achievement. - you are responsible for ensuring that the organization enables student health work including collaboration to create an accessible learning environment for each student. - you lead teachers' and student health's collaborative cooperation in systematic quality work. - you are expected to analyze the connections between methods, student learning, and school results. - based on the democracy and values assignment, you work to design operations where trusting relationships are created with employees, students, and guardians. - you work toward good collaboration.
