Make a difference. Every day. Do you want to make a positive impact on society and contribute to conducting more clinical research in Sweden? Are you stimulated by collaboration with colleagues and working in an environment where continuous development takes place? Then this might be the position for you! Clinical Studies Sweden - Forum South is a unique regional support function with a mission to support and promote clinical research in the Southern Healthcare Region. We provide support and services to researchers, research personnel, and life science companies conducting clinical studies in healthcare. In doing so, we work to make Sweden an attractive country for conducting clinical studies, which contribute to the development of new and innovative products and treatment methods, benefiting patients and society. Forum South also has the responsibility to serve as a regional node for the Southern Healthcare Region within the framework of the national collaboration Clinical Studies Sweden, supported by the Swedish Research Council. Our operations include some forty employees and are located at Skåne University Hospital in Lund. Please visit Forum South's website for more information about our Grants Office: https://kliniskastudier.se/forum-soder/forskningsstod-och-radgivning/grants-office 1 position(s). DUTIES As a project economist, you will be responsible for the financial dimension of the Grants Office work; from budget planning before application to basic financial monitoring and reporting in awarded EU projects. You are a key resource in the pre-grant phase: research groups without budget experience need qualified support to set up realistic, compliant budgets that hold up all the way to the final report. You have a good understanding of EU program financial rules and can translate them into practical guidance for clinical researchers. Your responsibilities include: • Constructing and reviewing project budgets for applications to various funders such as VR, Forte, EU, and foundations • Guiding research groups on national funders' cost rules and eligible costs • Providing knowledge regarding EU budget models and financial project conditions • Supporting the post-grant phase for awarded EU projects: budget structure in EU Funding & Tenders Portal, time reporting systems, and cost monitoring • Preparing and compiling documentation for financial project reporting prior to submission and serving as primary contact for financial review by third parties • Collaborating with finance managers at departments and divisions for correct cost allocation and internal invoicing • Monitoring changes in funders' financial regulations • Training research groups in basic budgeting principles for external funding. To thrive in this role, you need to be service-minded and motivated by providing qualified support to researchers and contributing to successful applications. The work requires a structured approach, good analytical skills, and an interest in interpreting and applying funders' regulations. Project budgets are a central part of the quality and feasibility of research applications. Therefore, it is important to be able to combine financial accuracy with a pedagogical approach that makes complex cost rules understandable and usable for researchers. The role involves many contact points and periodically high work pace, which requires good prioritization skills, independence, and the ability to handle multiple parallel processes simultaneously. We are looking for someone who shares the Grants Office conviction that qualified financial support is an important prerequisite for more clinical studies to be conducted.
