Your work tasks vary depending on the café, but include everything from grilling burgers, baking waffles and brewing coffee to handling the cash register, serving drinks and maintaining good order. Of all those working at the cafés, you are the one who is most knowledgeable about menus and assortment. Your responsibility also includes maintaining food quality at the café where you work. It is important that you have a good eye for what needs to be done and that you like things clean and tidy around you. Therefore, it is a given that you share your own recommendations and knowledge with both guests and colleagues. Beyond your knowledge of the menus, you are also the natural link between the restaurant manager and staff, and your primary task is to be available for personnel when they need support or assistance. To succeed in the sous chef role, you should have experience from à la carte and/or buffet operations.
