Business Area Manager, Product and Assortment at Pictura

About Pictura? Pictura is headquartered in Karlstad and has approximately 400 employees around the world. We are a leading player in the Nordic region within the FMCG (non-food) products segment for specialty retail and grocery retail. Our assortment currently covers 26 product categories, from greeting cards to sewing supplies, gift items, calendars, party products, and other retail categories. We operate in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, USA, France, Poland, and Germany, and also export to several other markets. In the Nordic region, we are one of the largest players in in-store sales and service. Our strength lies in simplifying everyday life for our customers by taking full responsibility for selected categories, from assortment and displays to follow-up and in-store service. Pictura Nordic Development (PND) is seeking a Business Area Manager with strong commercial understanding, deep knowledge of retail, and a genuine interest in developing products and assortments that work in stores. PND is entering a new phase where product development will become even more commercially driven and linked to customer needs, sales data, margins, assortment logic, and in-store execution. You will lead a team of approximately 30 employees within product development, design, assortment optimization, and commercial development. Your mission is to create clear direction, structure, and execution capability through PND, from creative idea to finished commercial launch in stores. You will be part of the company's Nordic management team and report directly to the CEO. About Pictura Nordic Development PND is the hub for Pictura's product development and assortment work. Here, products, concepts, and assortment solutions are developed to work in multiple geographic markets, with different customer types, and in different retail environments. The role requires the ability to balance creative excellence with commercial discipline. You will drive the work with clear prioritization, stronger assortments, and better collaboration between PND, market companies, and Pictura Logistik Center, which is responsible for distribution, procurement, and warehouse management within the group. Your main responsibilities As Business Area Manager for PND, you are responsible for leading and developing Pictura's product organization with a focus on commercially strong products, clear assortments, and profitable growth. The role includes: Leading and developing PND's organization of approximately 30 employees within product development, design, and assortment optimization. Driving PND's continued transformation toward a more commercially driven, structured, and data-driven product organization. Ensuring that product development progresses from creative idea to commercially viable product and launch in the most efficient way without compromising product quality. Creating clearer working methods, priorities, and decision paths for product development, assortment management, and internal collaboration. Ensuring that the right time and resources are allocated to the right products, categories, and business opportunities. Translating trends, customer input, sales data, margin requirements, and assortment strategy into concrete product decisions. Building stronger collaboration between PND, market companies, and Pictura Logistik Center to improve the flow from idea to product, procurement, inventory, and sales. Identifying new revenue opportunities, margin improvements, and commercial development areas. Actively contributing to the Nordic management team and the company's long-term strategic development. Who are you? You are a commercially driven leader with a strong understanding of retail, assortment, and the product's role in stores. You understand how customers, suppliers, and consumers interact, and you have the ability to translate that understanding into products, assortments, and working methods that drive sales. You likely have experience from retail, grocery retail, chain operations, procurement, assortment development, category management, product development, or commercial leadership. You have worked closely with retail and understand what it takes for products to work commercially in reality. You have a genuine interest in products. You enjoy understanding why one product sells, why another doesn't, how assortments are built, how price and margin affect the bigger picture, and how products need to be presented to work in stores. You are motivated by developing operations, not just managing them. You thrive when you can create clearer structure, build shared direction, and translate strategy into practical change in everyday work. As a leader, you are clear, communicative, and present. You engage in dialogue easily, but are also confident in prioritizing, making decisions, and handling internal conflicts.
