Special Subject Description: Polymer electrolytes are materials consisting of salts dissolved in polymers, and can be implemented in solid-state batteries. They may also contain ceramic particles, forming so-called polymer-composite electrolytes. In this project, lithium-ion conducting polymer and composite electrolytes will be developed and tested with the aim of advancing these materials toward commercialization. Work Tasks: Synthesis of polymers, fabrication of polymer electrolytes, design of polymer-based solid-state batteries, electrochemical characterization of materials and electrochemical cells. Department of Molecular Sciences Researcher in design, synthesis and characterization of hybrid materials for recovery of critical elements We are looking for you to contribute to the development of knowledge about how to create, manufacture and characterize functional adsorbents for separation and recovery of critical elements. The Inorganic and Physical Chemistry group works on developing knowledge about environmental technologies, which are based on encapsulation or chemical coupling of organic functional molecules to inorganic or biopolymer matrices. Project Description The Streuff group is internationally recognized for developing innovative synthesis methods, particularly in the field of early transition metal catalysis. The project focuses on investigating and developing single-electron transfer reactions with low-valent titanium catalysis and related reagents/catalysts. Additional projects in areas such as new bond cleavage and defunctionalization reactions, clarification of reaction mechanisms in catalysis, and total synthesis are also available and can be discussed at a later stage. Duties The primary responsibility of a doctoral student is to pursue doctoral studies, which includes both participation in research projects and doctoral coursework. Duties The project addresses the synthesis of photoactive metal complexes and their application in catalyzing small molecule activation, with components of organic chemistry, spectroscopy, and coordination chemistry. The postdoctoral researcher will develop lanthanide-catalyzed transformations. The project is financed through the Novo Nordisk Foundation's Pioneer Innovator Grant, which is based on an invention encompassing the method and apparatus for determining the electrolyte volume in commercial lithium-ion batteries. Responsibilities Develop the experimental setup to study electrolyte behavior in commercial lithium-ion batteries. Refinement of the test bench and software interface for quantitative determination of electrolyte consumption in commercial Li-ion cells. Map gas solubility in commercially relevant electrolyte formulations. Document hardware, measurement procedures, and workflows for data analysis in standard operating procedures (SOP), internal reports, and scientific manuscripts. Contribute to commercialization of the patented technology through collaboration with industrial partners for early evaluation of prototypes. Collaborate with the project team and relevant research groups within Ångström Advanced Battery Centre, and present results at group meetings and at national and international conferences. Qualification Requirements Master's degree or higher in chemistry, materials science, physics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. A Ph.D. is meriting but not an absolute requirement if equivalent experience can be demonstrated. Experience with lithium-ion batteries and/or electrochemical energy storage, for example cell testing, aging studies, or related diagnostics. Practical experience in developing experimental setups (hardware, sensors, software interfaces) and quantitative data analysis. Strong knowledge of IT and programming environments relevant to measurement control and data processing (e.g., Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar).
