The work involves ongoing contact with, among others, the Government Offices, other authorities, and other parts of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service operations. The unit will be built up with four mobile interdisciplinary teams consisting of doctors, psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, and healthcare administrators. Approximately 25 employees will work in the operation in total. The target group is children and young people with extensive psychiatric and social comorbidity. Many have experienced care breakdown, repeated placements, and serious mental health issues such as self-harm, trauma, or behavioral disorders. The service area covers all of Västra Götaland. Initially, the operation targets young people placed in SiS homes in the region. In the long term, children and young people placed in HVB homes and within the Prison and Probation Service are planned to be included. The unit is organizationally part of the Neurology and Child Psychiatry operation at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, within the Child Psychiatric 24-Hour Care and Special Clinics section.
