Engineer with Environmental Passion for Critical Role in Recycling

Do you want to help shape the future of Borås – a circular economy city at the forefront where sustainability becomes real, every day? We are now seeking a waste engineer to support and develop our operations within municipal waste – an area facing a very exciting future with new legislation and digital development. Here you will be offered a stimulating and strategically important assignment with close proximity to both operations and decision-making. You will report directly to the Business Area Manager of the Recycling Business Area. The business area includes, among other things, collection and transport, operation of our five recycling centers, and management and landfill at our Energy and Environmental Center Sobacken. The role combines analysis, regulations, and practical support to operations. As a waste engineer, you will primarily work with issues related to our municipal waste operations where we, in-house, handle all collection of waste from residents in Borås. The position involves many internal contact points where you will work closely with both operations, customer center, and colleagues in Recycling, as well as externally with industry colleagues and organizations. Your main responsibilities Support operations on issues related to municipal waste Contribute to developing working methods, communication, and circular flows Interpret legislation and waste regulations and put them into practice Work with monitoring, analysis, and reporting Contribute to budget, forecast, and pricing work What a typical week might look like: You participate in a network meeting with industry colleagues, analyze statistics from operations, support the customer center with a matter, interpret new legislation, or discuss improvements with the operations organization. Your background and personal qualities We are looking for someone who enjoys taking on new knowledge and new challenges and thrives in a role where you can combine structure, analysis, and collaboration. We believe that you: Have relevant higher education, for example in environment, civil engineering, or technology, or alternatively experience that the employer considers equivalent Have experience handling and analyzing data or financial information Have good analytical abilities, are quick to learn technically, and enjoy working in a structured manner Are skilled at explaining complex things in a simple way Value collaboration and believe that the best results are achieved when different perspectives work together Have an interest in regulations and how they can best be applied in practice For this role, you must have a B-class driver's license and be able to express yourself well in both speech and writing in Swedish. We believe the role suits you if you are early in your career and have a few years of experience in similar work. You may have worked as, for example, an environmental engineer, project manager, or in technology or process development.
