Chance to be part of Värmdö's acclaimed digitalization and development work! We are now seeking a coordinator for our GIS operations. The Maps and GIS unit currently consists of 13 employees responsible for the municipality's map supply. This includes field surveys, creation of new building maps and base maps, maintenance of primary maps and water/sewer line maps. Building, address, and apartment registration as well as web maps and GIS coordination are also included. The role involves, among other things: coordinating and developing the municipality's GIS operations planning, monitoring, and documenting activities and development initiatives collaborating with various municipal departments to identify needs and create effective GIS solutions together with the unit manager for Maps and GIS, planning, prioritizing, and distributing work tasks collaborating with other municipalities managing and developing geographic information in databases, map services, and web applications Today, the Maps and GIS department uses Hajk, QGIS, FME, FBwebb, VA-banken, ISM, ESPA, and TopoCAD. Our new GIS platform is built primarily on open source: Hajk as a web mapping application together with PostGIS and geoserver running on Ubuntu servers in a Docker environment. In addition to this, FME Flow and FME Form are important integration, analysis, and automation tools. We are looking for someone educated as a GIS engineer or with other education that the employer deems equivalent. You have at least a couple of years of work experience in GIS. Merits include good knowledge of digitalization of the built environment process, databases, experience handling geographic data, such as analysis, processing and visualization, open source, and AI. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. To succeed in the role, you need to be communicative, attentive, and relationship-building. You have the ability to coordinate, anchor, and create engagement around shared decisions. We are looking for someone who is quality-conscious and development-oriented.
