Chief Officer to M/S Eckerö
Chief Officer to M/S Eckerö – Permanent Position
Are you an experienced Chief Officer with clear leadership and a strong focus on safety? We are now seeking a Chief Officer for our vessel M/S Eckerö. We offer a permanent position with start date in October 2026 or by agreement.
About the Role
As Chief Officer, you are the Captain's deputy and the vessel's second-in-command. You have overall operational responsibility for the deck department, including all deck maintenance, safe work procedures, and a good working environment onboard.
You are responsible for the vessel's cargo operations in port, which includes cargo planning as well as safe loading and unloading. In this role, you lead the daily work of the deck department and are responsible for work supervision, development, and well-being within the department. You ensure that work on deck is conducted safely and efficiently and regularly participate in maneuvering the vessel during arrival and departure from port.
We are also facing a generational shift within our command organization in the coming years. Therefore, we are looking for someone who has the ambition and qualifications to develop into a Captain. For the right person, there are good opportunities to progressively take on greater responsibility within the shipping company.
Who Are You?
We are seeking a motivated and responsible person with strong leadership qualities and a clear commitment to safety and collaboration. To succeed in this role, we see that you have:
Relevant experience as nautical officer, with good knowledge of vessel operations and maritime regulations.
A positive and service-oriented attitude, combined with a strong focus on safety, working environment, and environmental responsibility.
You are structured, responsible, and have good ability to plan, prioritize, and follow up on operations.
A valid certification as Master Mariner (STCW II/2) and certificate for the role of Captain.
A clear, professional, and engaging leadership style, with the ability to lead, motivate, and support your colleagues.
