Konsthall C is seeking a new Artistic Director for a 3-year period, starting in April 2027. Konsthall C is an art institution, an urban renewal project, and a public artwork located in a former laundry building in Hökarängen, Stockholm. Since 2004, the hall has organized exhibitions and events that challenge the art world while highlighting local concerns. Today, Konsthall C is an internationally established platform for contemporary art. As a leading player in contemporary art in Northern Europe, Konsthall C believes it has a responsibility to address the challenges facing our contemporary society today: from the rise of fascism and the effects of climate change, to systematic cuts in public culture. In facing these challenges, Konsthall C is taking steps toward becoming a more just, inclusive, and values-driven meeting place. We are now seeking our next Artistic Director—a leader willing to incorporate Konsthall C's stated objectives into their vision for the next artistic program (2027–2029). The ideal candidate should be a transformative force in the art world, with the vision to move beyond symbolic gestures and make Konsthall C a place for real change. They can balance their creative vision with rigorous skills in project management, practical production, and finance. The candidate should be willing to contribute to the development of Konsthall C, with strong interest in institution-building. Ideally, they should also understand the central role of hospitality and foster a generous and inclusive atmosphere. Ultimately, while organizational experience is crucial, the strength and ingenuity of the artistic proposal will carry significant weight in the selection process. Information Title: Artistic Director Mandate Period: April 1, 2027–March 31, 2029 Scope: 80–100% of full-time Application Deadline: 23:59, September 15, 2026 Candidate Profile Qualifications: - Experience working with contemporary art and/or interdisciplinary artistic practices for a specific audience. - Experience in exhibition production. - Relevant academic background: degree in curating, art, or equivalent qualified professional experience in the art and culture sector. - Strong skills in writing and speaking English and/or Swedish. Meritorious Qualities: - Strong leadership and organizational skills. - Experience in cultural administration, project management, and finance. - Good collaborative spirit. - Ability to build and sustain networks. - Offers a critical perspective on the art scene, artistic production, and power relations within art. - Good social and pedagogical skills. - Willingness and ability to represent Konsthall C in national and international contexts. The Artistic Proposal: The strength and ingenuity of the submitted proposal will be given significant weight in the evaluation of applications. The proposal will be assessed against the candidate's qualifications, including an evaluation of whether they can implement the proposal.
