Do you have an academic degree and want to work as an intelligence or security officer at the Helicopter Squadron? If you have an academic degree and meet the qualifications listed below, you can be employed as an officer without first completing officer training. The position includes up to 25 months of specialized officer training with pay. If you have not completed military basic training, your employment will begin with a military basic course. The Helicopter Squadron is now looking for you to work as an officer in intelligence and security services. Qualifications Academic degree in political science, behavioral science, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer, with at least 180 credits from a university or college, and a written thesis of at least 15 credits. Foreign degrees must be validated by UHR. Class B driver's license. Meritorious qualifications Experience with the Swedish Armed Forces and good understanding of what is expected of you in your upcoming role as an officer. Experience and training in intelligence or security services. Management and leadership experience from professional work or volunteer work. Completed military service and group leader training (GBU) with a passing grade. Previous experience as GSS. The Training The training is between 12-25 months long depending on your previous experience with the Swedish Armed Forces. The entire training is conducted under employment according to Section 20 of the Officers Regulation with associated benefits. Here you will have the opportunity to receive unique training that combines theory with practice and focuses on leadership and specialized skills of your choice. Employment begins with you completing the training required to become a fully trained professional officer in the Swedish Armed Forces. The Helicopter Squadron will develop a competency development plan together with you based on your experience, which means the training structure can vary from individual to individual. Main Duties The training aims to give you a foundation in pedagogy, leadership, and tactics. You will learn to become a good manager and leader. After completing the training, your main duties in the intelligence service will primarily involve analysis, processing, and dissemination of information. In the security service, the main duties are to maintain security protection with various focuses, for example physical security around the Helicopter Squadron's operations. Selection The selection process matches the individual's civilian and military experience and educational background against suitable positions. Selection takes place during fall 2026 with tests at the Duty and Testing Agency and interviews at the unit. It is important that you understand what it means to work as a professional officer. You should therefore be very clear in your personal letter explaining why you want to become a professional officer at the Helicopter Squadron. Personal Qualities You are a person who takes responsibility, seeks out and drives your work tasks, is dynamic, and provides support where needed. You enjoy leading and developing others and thrive in an educational role. Work as an officer requires both very good stress tolerance and ability to cooperate, as well as a good ability to prioritize among a variety of tasks. You are flexible and view the entire Swedish Armed Forces as your workplace in an upcoming officer career. Great weight will be placed on personal suitability. Other Information Employment Type: Permanent employment according to Section 20 of the Officers Regulation. The Swedish Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for new hires. Employment Level: Full-time. Evening and weekend duty may occur during exercise activities. SOFU participants are exempt from working time regulations and therefore do not have the right to work-dependent allowances such as FM days or travel time compensation during SOFU participation. Work Location: Duty location after graduation is Linköping, Ronneby, or Luleå; service during training takes place at one of our military universities in Halmstad or Stockholm. Helicopter support is in high demand. For example, for personnel, material, or medical transport, command, reconnaissance, or surveillance missions. The Helicopter Squadron therefore often participates in assignments and exercises with other units as well as in support of society in various crisis situations. The majority of the Helicopter Squadron is located in Linköping (Malmen), where we are also responsible for Malmen Airport and Linköping Garrison, with two large units in Luleå (Kallax) and Ronneby (Kallinge). Employment with us involves placement in a security classification. Usually Swedish citizenship is required. Security clearance with registry check will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment includes an obligation to be placed on the war roster.
