The National Center for Women's Peace (NCK) at Uppsala University and Academic Hospital is a national knowledge center on men's violence against women and violence in close relationships, honor-related violence and oppression, sexual violence, and prostitution and human trafficking. NCK also provides support to victims of violence. Education is one of the cornerstones of NCK's activities. Men's violence against women and violence in close relationships is an independent interdisciplinary knowledge area. This area is now part of higher education programs within several disciplines. Knowledge about violence and its consequences is important to provide good treatment and adequate support to those who have experienced violence and their children. Knowledge is also needed to conduct prevention work, create resources, and to change attitudes in society. For further information and description of the knowledge area, see NCK's website. Duties The position includes teaching, planning, administration, and examination primarily within the center's courses at basic and advanced levels, as well as other educational activities directed at health and medical care, social services, the legal system, non-profit organizations, and others. The work includes planning courses and educational initiatives in collaboration with the study director and other teachers, as well as taking responsibility for implementation as course leader. Implementation of educational assignments in project form may be relevant. The work is conducted primarily from the NCK workplace in Uppsala. Travel within the country may occur. The work may also include contributing expertise in various contexts both internally, in different working groups, and externally. Eligibility Requirements According to Section 41 of Uppsala University's Employment Regulations (AO), a person eligible for employment as a university lecturer is someone who has completed a higher education degree and demonstrated pedagogical skill. When appointing a university lecturer position, the requirement for scientific competence is replaced with a requirement for subject specialization. According to Section 5 of AO, the general eligibility requirement for teachers is to have the personal qualities required to perform the position well. You must have completed your higher education degree within a knowledge area relevant to the activities, such as medicine, public health, psychology, sociology, gender studies, social work, law, or human rights. A person eligible for employment as a university lecturer is someone who has higher education credits within the knowledge area of Men's Violence Against Women and Violence in Close Relationships and/or documented professional experience considered equivalent. Pedagogical skill must have been demonstrated through extensive merits in education according to Section 22 of AO, or in another way within the activity area that education pertains to. You must have completed higher education pedagogy training relevant to university activities or have acquired equivalent knowledge. Since the position involves close collaboration with other teachers, the study director, and activities at NCK, great importance will be placed on personal suitability such as good collaboration and communication skills. Flexibility and the ability to work independently with course leadership and digital systems are very important for the position. Experience working toward deadlines and the ability to prioritize work tasks are also required. The applicant must have documented ability to teach in Swedish and English. (See Sections 6, 22, and 28 of AO) Assessment Criteria Pedagogical skill refers to educational qualifications. When assessing pedagogical skill, pedagogical quality shall be considered first. Both scope, breadth as well as depth, shall be given importance. Furthermore, the ability to plan, initiate, lead, and develop education and teaching, as well as the ability to incorporate research into teaching, shall be given importance. The ability to interact on higher education pedagogical issues with actors within and outside the university is also part of pedagogical skill. (Section 22 AO, see also Section 15 RB) Documented knowledge of working with educational activities within the area of Men's Violence Against Women and Violence in Close Relationships, training of professionals, and experience of work at a public authority are merits. It is also a merit to have documented experience of professionally working with people in crisis. A doctoral degree within an area the employer considers relevant for the position is a merit.
