Description At the Department of Nursing, which has around one hundred employees, education is provided for registered nurses and radiographic nurses, specialist education for nurses, midwifery, master's, and postgraduate programs, as well as research education/research within three main subject areas: nursing, radiography, and sexual and reproductive health. We are now seeking a substitute university lecturer on a 100% basis within the field of nursing. Duties The position includes practical and theoretical teaching, student supervision, and implementation and assessment of examinations in education at both basic and advanced levels. Teaching occurs primarily within the nursing program but may also occur in other programs and courses offered by the department. Additionally, the position involves participating in the development of new courses and administrative tasks. Some teaching will be delivered using distance education methods. Qualifications Eligibility for appointment as a lecturer in nursing requires a registered nurse credential and a master's degree in nursing or equivalent competence. Knowledge and experience in skills training and practical teaching are meritorious. To be eligible for the position, applicants must have documented ability to teach in both Swedish and English. As a person, you are service-oriented, take your own initiative, are thorough, and can work independently. You are outgoing and have a strong ability to collaborate with students, colleagues, and groups both within and outside the university. We also appreciate someone who is driven and solution-oriented. Criteria for Assessment The basis for assessing teacher appointments at the university shall be the degree of competency required for eligibility, that is, for this position: pedagogical competency, administrative competency, and clinical competency. Assessment of pedagogical competency and clinical competency shall receive special attention in this appointment. Additionally, the degree of competency to contribute to program and course development shall be considered. A general assessment criterion for teachers at Umeå University is strong collaborative ability, as well as the competence and suitability otherwise needed to perform the job duties well. When assessing pedagogical competency, consideration will be given to documented experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching, as well as supervision and assessment in nursing. Administrative competency can be demonstrated through competency in leading and developing operations and personnel, as well as through collaborative ability. Clinical competency is shown through current clinical experience and documented strong clinical competence. Additional Information The position is based in Örnsköldsvik, although teaching at other locations may occur. The position is a two-year temporary appointment starting by mutual agreement. We view favorably the maintenance of clinical professional practice during employment, and a clinical connection of 20% may be possible within the scope of the employment.
