As one of our employees is going on parental leave, we are now seeking a substitute building inspector for the planning and building unit within the Community Development Administration. The Community Development Administration's mission is to promote sustainable development, create a healthy living environment, and help prevent and limit risks and accidents for people, property and the environment. Today, the administration consists of just over 140 employees. We work on issues including environmental and health protection, building permits, comprehensive and detailed planning, traffic, surveying and map production. The rescue service is also part of the administration and is responsible for operational rescue operations as well as supervision and investigations. You will be part of the planning and building unit and work alongside 18 experienced colleagues. Together we contribute to shaping the future sustainable Värnamo—the people-centered growth municipality. Responsibilities The role of building inspector primarily involves monitoring and following up on ongoing construction projects within the municipality. You are responsible for the technical handling of building cases after building permits have been granted. The tasks include technical consultations, start permits, workplace visits, final consultations, final permits, advisory services, handling of notification cases, and supervision. The position involves independent work and many decisions are made by delegation. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is well-organized, takes responsibility and feels confident in your assessments. You collaborate daily with both colleagues and building owners, contractors and consultants. We work closely together and value good cooperation where we support each other in daily work, both within the team and within the unit. Qualifications We are looking for someone with post-secondary education as a building engineer or other relevant education that the employer deems equivalent, or alternatively corresponding work experience. We see that you have several years of experience as a building inspector, preferably within municipal operations, and are familiar with applying the Building Act and its regulations. You have a strong interest in community development issues, public administration and building technology. As a person, you are mature, confident and stable, with a good ability to work both independently and together with others. You are well-organized, take responsibility and see good service as a natural and important part of the work. You have a good ability to plan, drive and follow up work processes. We are looking for someone with good computer skills and can communicate well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. It is an advantage if you have experience with Microsoft Office, the business system Castor, supervision work according to the Building Act, and OVK (mandatory ventilation inspection).
