Botaniska is a scientific institution with botanical research and horticultural development work at a high international level. Botanica is one of Europe's largest botanical gardens with approximately 75 hectares and 20,000 unique plants from more than 130 countries. Description We are looking for you to create a welcoming and inspiring experience for our visitors in our visitor center and shop. Being a group leader is a mission, not a position. The position we want to fill is a substitute information assistant with a mission as group leader. The temporary assignment runs from November 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027. Introduction takes place in November when the current group leader intends to be on site. As a group leader, you are an important link between employees and the unit manager. You have a communicative approach, set an example, and follow the agency's routines. You work closely with the unit manager and other group leaders. Job Responsibilities Our visitor center is at the entrance to the garden. In all likelihood, you will meet both visitors on their way in and on their way out of the garden. What you convey plays a major role in the impressions they will have of us. We are constantly developing our activities with the goal of providing our visitors with a rich experience, which places high demands on service spirit, good customer service, quality awareness, thoroughness, initiative, and a desire to build good relationships. We offer varied and multifaceted tasks in a unique and beautiful setting. You are part of the public unit but you will find your colleagues throughout the garden. Your role will be to be an employee in our visitor center and shop. It is varied work that includes hospitality, purchasing, sales, cash handling, picking stock, cleaning, plant care, bookings, and receiving deliveries. The most important task is to tell our visitors about our activities and about the parts of our operations—both the garden and arboretum as well as programs—that visitors can experience on site. Both evening and weekend shifts are included. As a group leader, the following tasks are included: Lead and organize the group's daily work, including prioritization during busy periods and absences. Ensure good hospitality and high service to our visitors. Hold regular meetings and dialogue with the group and communicate needs to the unit manager. Introduce seasonal employees and participate in recruitment according to procedure. Handle short-term leave requests and sick leave reports according to applicable procedures. Ensure work is performed according to safe procedures and handle deviations as needed. Participate in development work and serve as a contact person for the group. Perform administrative tasks such as invoice handling, ordering, and inventory. Qualifications We are looking for you to have post-secondary horticultural education or equivalent. We want you to: Be clear, structured, and able to lead daily work. Have basic knowledge of economics and very good computer skills. Be considerate, orderly, and have good hospitality skills. Have experience with sales and cash handling. Have a B-class driver's license. Be fluent in both Swedish and English. And preferably also: Experience with booking and invoicing. Speak other commonly used languages. Have good knowledge of Gothenburg's Botaniska trädgården. Conditions Botanika applies flexible working hour agreements.
