Job Description As an in-house counsel at the Inspectorate for Strategic Products (ISP), you will have the opportunity to work broadly with various in-house legal matters as well as tasks related to the core operations. Your work will include handling common in-house legal questions, including within the areas of administrative law, public access and confidentiality, and data protection legislation. ISP is a growing operation, and as a legal professional, you will actively participate in developing the agency's legal work, as well as drafting guidelines and other governing documents. Beyond in-house legal matters, you will also provide internal legal advice for core operations, which includes regulations for reviewing foreign direct investments, defense materials, and products with dual-use applications, as well as international sanctions. You thrive when collaborating with others, both internally across units and with other government agencies, and providing active mentoring to more junior colleagues. Your duties also include conducting training sessions, performing legal research, and responding to referrals. International work and travel may occur. Qualifications Juris Doctor degree or equivalent law degree Completed court clerk service (notarietjänstgöring) or equivalent experience from a court that the agency deems equivalent Additional several years of current experience in qualified legal work from a government agency or court, or alternatively from other relevant private sector work Very good knowledge of both Swedish and English in speech and writing Meritorious Education as an appellate court assessor (kammarrätt or hovrätt) Current experience with administrative law and public access and confidentiality legislation Experience with contracts and procurement Current experience with personal data processing and digitalization matters Current experience with EU law matters Personal Competencies You have a very strong ability to structure and prioritize your work tasks. You drive your processes independently forward and deliver within given timeframes. You are analytical and can quickly master extensive materials. About the Team The Legal and Supervision Team includes both experienced in-house counsel and junior legal professionals, as well as a supervision team. The team is responsible for assisting the Chief Counsel in supporting the entire agency's legal work and handling matters that belong to the team. The assignment requires close collaboration with both the Chief Counsel and other units within the agency. The team's composition places significant responsibility on senior staff members to mentor and contribute to junior colleagues' development. Well-being, an open environment, and sharing knowledge and experience are guiding principles for the team's work. The Legal and Supervision Team also includes the agency's supervision team, which is responsible for ongoing supervision of defense material and dual-use product companies and for event-driven supervision as needed. The Legal and Supervision Team is part of the Operational Support Unit. About Employment at ISP The employment is fixed-term for 12 months. Start date by agreement. Employment includes an obligation to be available for wartime mobilization. Swedish citizenship is required to work with us. The position is classified under security classification, and a security vetting with records check will be conducted before an employment decision is made. Since a large portion of the work involves classified information, the opportunity for remote work is limited. ISP is a government agency with a foreign policy focus. Our assignments include issuing permits for the manufacture and export of strategic products and reviewing foreign direct investments.
