About Us The Thorax and Cardiology Business Area provides highly specialized regional and national healthcare within thoracic surgery and thoracic intensive care and holds authorization for three National Highly Specialized Care (NHV) assignments. Our patients come from the entire region, Sweden, and Iceland. The business area has active research, development, and educational work (R&D) in collaboration with Sahlgrenska Academy, as well as a major educational mission. The Thoracic Intensive Care Unit has approximately 130 employees and is a highly specialized intensive care unit providing postoperative and intensive care. Operations include cardiac and lung surgery, pump treatment, ECMO, and care for severe heart failure and post-transplant patients. About the Duties As a Nursing Unit Manager, you will work together with a fellow Nursing Unit Manager to: Have personnel, budget, and work environment responsibility for approximately 130 employees Actively work to monitor the unit's goals Utilize and develop employee competencies Drive change and development initiatives in the unit Work closely with the Medical Responsible Section Manager and a Nursing Unit Physician You will report directly to the Operations Manager and be part of the business area's management team. The position involves a time-limited five-year management assignment with permanent employment in your base profession. Who Are We Looking For? We are looking for someone with relevant higher education, preferably with previous management or leadership experience. Experience in acute and intensive care, as well as an academic background such as a degree (magister), master's, or research education is meritorious. For the Nursing Unit Manager role, we seek a clear leader who, through openness, dialogue, and good collaboration skills – both internally and externally – helps drive the business forward. You have a strong drive and a desire to develop the unit with the goal of creating efficiency and ultimately value for the patient. You have good communication skills and an unpretentious manner that creates engagement and participation to inspire and develop others. You have a genuine interest in leading others and the courage to make decisions. You are expected to work toward established goals and follow up on results.
