Riga Technical University Registration No. 90000068977 We invite you to join the RTU team as Director of the Safety and Management Institute (DPI) of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering (BMF). (profession code 1345 04) We are seeking a leader who will direct RTU BMF DPI, promoting its development and strengthening international competitiveness in studies, research, and innovation. The Institute integrates safety, management, logistics, industrial engineering, and engineering science competencies. Key Responsibilities: Development and implementation of the Institute's strategy; Promotion of the Institute's development and competitiveness in studies, research, and innovation; Leadership of the Institute's change and process improvement initiatives; Financial planning (including annual), budget management, and securing funding (scientific projects, industry contracts, training, etc.); Organization of the Institute's daily operations and process improvement; Leadership of research and innovation direction development within the structural unit; Team building, development, and motivation, including supervision of academic and general staff skills and competency development; Attraction of new specialists and collaboration partners, including international ones, to the Institute's activities, including ensuring personnel selection and onboarding of new employees; Promotion of collaboration with industry and international partners (Latvian and foreign universities; enterprises; state and municipal institutions). Requirements: Doctoral degree in a field significant for the Institute's strategic development (engineering sciences, industrial engineering and management, economics, logistics, customs procedures, civil protection, integrated security, and other fields related to the Institute's activities); At least 3 years of continuous work experience within the last 10 years in managing a structural unit, enterprise, or organization, including financial and resource management; Knowledge of the official language (C1 level) and English language knowledge (at least B2 level) for daily communication with colleagues and collaboration partners; Readiness to become a State Official in accordance with the conditions of Section 4 of the Law "On the Prevention of Conflict of Interest in the Activities of State Officials"; Work experience in integrated security, management, quality management, economics, civil protection, customs, logistics, management sciences, or other fields related to the Institute's activities; Experience in attracting project funding, collaboration with state or municipal institutions, international organizations, or industry; Impeccable reputation. Preferred qualifications: Experience within the last 10 years in preparing and implementing EU project applications in research, innovation, or development matters; Experience in professional work in an international environment, including collaboration with foreign partners, leading or implementing international projects or international teams; Change management experience; Experience in collaboration with defense, interior affairs, customs, or civil protection sector institutions; Experience within the last 10 years in pedagogical and scientific work, including in a leading position in an academic environment; English language knowledge at C1–C2 level. In the final selection round, candidates will be required to prepare and present a five-year strategic vision for RTU BMF DPI (in Latvian and English). Selection takes place in three rounds: evaluation of application documents, in-depth examination of submitted information and references, and a structured interview with strategy presentation. Please note that the Institute begins operations on February 1, 2027, and the Director's employment relations begin on this date. The candidate selected in the competition is offered employment until January 31, 2027, to ensure the preparatory work necessary for the Institute to begin operations.
