We offer highly specialized cardiac care and have overall responsibility for the patients of the region. The Heart Center includes the Cardiology Outpatient Clinic, Thoracic Surgery, Cardiology, PCI Lab, Arrhythmia Unit, as well as Clinical Physiology and the Center for Cardiovascular Genetics. We investigate, treat, and operate on patients from across the northern region with diseases of the heart, lungs, and coronary arteries. Through cross-boundary collaboration, effective care pathways, continuous improvement, and competent staff, we can offer very high-quality care. In close collaboration with the university, we conduct research, development, and education. We have approximately 400 employees at the Heart Center. In the Thoracic Surgery's four operating rooms, approximately 1,100 thoracic surgical procedures are performed annually. The operating rooms are bright, functional, and most are equipped with laminar flow ventilation. We work in teams – naturally with the patient at the center! We are looking for you who are a registered nurse interested in pursuing a specialist nursing degree in operating room nursing. Region Västerbotten now offers the opportunity for educational scholarships during your studies. You apply for the education yourself and are admitted on your own merits. Once you have been accepted into the program, you submit your application for this position. After that, a recruitment process will take place regarding a potential future educational scholarship. The educational scholarship is combined with a permanent employment with Region Västerbotten with placement in Thoracic Surgery Umeå. 2 position(s). RESPONSIBILITIES As an operating room nurse with us, you contribute with knowledge and commitment that makes people feel secure. In Thoracic Surgery, you work in a team in the operating room, with the patient in focus. The work is characterized by mutual respect where all professions collaborate to provide the patient with the best possible treatment and care. Working as an operating room nurse with us means being responsible together with the anesthesia nurse for perioperative care. This role includes practical tasks such as instrument handling and assistance in the operating room, as well as non-technical skills such as communication and teamwork. The operating room nurse also has responsibility for inventory management, sterility control, and functional testing of medical equipment. The position includes documentation, development of procedures, and supervision of students and new staff. Additionally, you assist with all tasks on the department that fall within your competence area. Working hours are scheduled during daytime; Monday through Friday 40 hours/week. Additionally, on-call duty with response time <30 minutes is included. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with an interest in operating room care. You have formal eligibility to apply for further education in this specialty. We would like to see that you have a few years of experience in acute care. You should be challenged by having an independent role and see flexibility as a matter of course. You can handle acute and stressful situations. Furthermore, you have good collaboration skills and the ability to build good relationships with colleagues, both externally and internally. Employment Type: Permanent employment.
