Description
The Department of Women's and Children's Health (KBH) is an internationally recognized institution conducting leading research and education in pediatrics. The department is responsible, together with Uppsala Academic Children's Hospital, for pediatric education in the medical program—a course that consistently receives very positive student feedback. To deliver high-quality education, we need engaged staff committed to working with and developing our teaching.
Work Tasks
The main responsibilities include teaching, seminar supervision, examinations, and administration within the medical program. Course leadership and course development are also included. Teaching takes place on-site, with the possibility of moving individual components online when needed. The position also involves staying current with developments in your field of expertise and matters relevant to university work. The role requires flexibility with significant personal responsibility for shaping and organizing your work.
Qualifications
We are seeking someone with a PhD who is a pediatrician or a resident physician in pediatrics and adolescent medicine. You must have substantial, documented experience teaching students at an advanced level in pediatrics. Strong skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, are also required.
Meritorious Qualifications
It is advantageous if you have experience leading courses. We will also value personal qualities such as flexibility, enthusiasm, and demonstrated pedagogical ability.
Assessment Criteria
When evaluating teaching proficiency, pedagogical experience and quality will be primarily considered. The breadth and depth of experience will also be given significant weight. Furthermore, the ability to independently plan, initiate, lead, and develop education and teaching, as well as the ability to integrate research into teaching, will be valued.
When Uppsala University hires new faculty, candidates will be selected based on a qualitative overall assessment of experience, competence, and proficiency, where the candidate is judged to have the best qualifications to carry out and develop the current duties and contribute to positive development of the department.
