Tree Safety Leader with Environmental Focus About the CompanySwedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) is responsible for long-term planning, construction, operations, and maintenance of Sweden's transport system. Within the National Tree Program, Trafikverket works to strengthen operational safety along the railway network through tree safety measures, risk tree management, and environmentally adapted measures in areas with special nature and cultural values. About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Tree Safety Leader with an environmental focus for the National Tree Program. The assignment involves working with environmental issues related to tree safety along Sweden's railways, with particular focus on areas where consultation, permits, and authority contacts are required. The role involves close collaboration with project management, authorities, municipalities, contractors, and other stakeholders. The assignment can be performed with up to 100% remote work for office time by agreement with the client, but travel to meetings and field visits will occur. Role and ResponsibilitiesAct as a tree safety leader with environmental focus within the National Tree Program. Prepare agreements, consultation documents, permits, and applications to municipalities, county administrative boards, and other authorities. Develop work methods, templates, and procedures within the project. Assess measures in individual stands together with experts prior to agreements, applications, and permits. Support contractors in the management of stands requiring special consideration. Monitor completed measures where special environmental considerations have been applied. Responsible for design and felling when needed. Work as a tree safety leader in stands where permits are required for, for example, habitat protection or protected trees. Obtain required permits from authorities and municipalities, such as shoreline protection permits and consultation applications. Conduct consultation with municipalities and other stakeholders according to established work processes. Maintain contacts with property owners, authorities, and other affected parties. Participate in meetings with project management, authorities, and stakeholders both digitally, physically, and in the field. Support project management in ongoing environmental matters. Contribute to knowledge transfer to Trafikverket staff within the assignment's area of responsibility. Competence RequirementsNatural resource management education with a focus on forestry or equivalent forestry competence. Environmental science education of at least 120 credits or equivalent competence. Geoscience education of at least 40 credits or equivalent competence. Education in nature conservation biology of at least 40 credits or equivalent competence. Experience in conducting at least one environmental impact assessment. At least 5 years of experience in handling and preparing: Notification of consultation according to Environmental Code 12:6. Notification of consultation according to the Cultural Environment Act 2:10. Permits according to shoreline protection regulations. Permits according to 7:28a Environmental Code. Experience in managing at least 10 cases within the above areas. Experience in reaching agreements with municipalities for measures within detailed planning areas. Experience as environmental support in railway-related projects within investigation, planning, design, construction phase, and implementation. Authorization BASÄVISTA, Individual presence in tracks, or higher authorization. At least 2 years of experience applying specific environmental considerations in railway tree safety. Added ValueExperience working in areas with high nature values, such as nature reserves, Natura 2000 areas, and habitat protection areas. Experience with tree safety easements and strategic development of operational safety within the railway sector. Documented experience of cooperation with multiple authorities and stakeholder groups in complex environmental cases. Assignment InformationAssignment Period: January 4, 2027 to January 5, 2029. Option: Possibility for extension 2 + 2 years. Extent: 80-100% of full-time. Work Location: Borlänge. Remote work possible up to 100% of office time by agreement with the client.
