All students have the right to a school that gives them the opportunity to develop according to their own conditions. SPSM operates schools on behalf of the state. We offer students a learning environment that provides opportunities for participation, learning, and development. We offer meaningful, stimulating, and important pedagogical work at our schools. Östervångsskolan in Lund offers bilingual education in a sign language environment for students from preschool through grade 10. Our students receive instruction in both Swedish Sign Language and written Swedish. We offer residential accommodations for students who cannot commute to school daily.

DUTIES
As a substitute teacher, you should be prepared to step in as a teacher, student assistant, or residential supervisor. You will have direct contact with the substitute coordinator who structures your assignment. In the role of substitute teacher, your duties may vary.
• You adapt and design instruction in accordance with the materials provided by regular staff
• You are responsible for creating a safe learning environment
• You document the instruction you have led during the day and provide feedback to the regular teacher/assistant
• You collaborate with colleagues when support is needed
• You perform your duties in Swedish Sign Language.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with at least one year of documented experience working with children or youth. You must have the ability to communicate in Swedish Sign Language. Your knowledge of Swedish Sign Language must be documented, and you should describe your sign language skills in your application.
It is advantageous if:
• You have experience working with students with disabilities
• You have good knowledge of how to teach in a sign language environment
• You have good written skills in Swedish
• You are familiar with the school's governing documents
• You have good skills in making instruction accessible to each student
• You have knowledge of and experience with language development work
• You have knowledge of the consequences of being deaf/hard of hearing in daily life
Employment Type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 6 months or longer.
A criminal records certificate must be presented before employment.
