We are a Czech company with approximately 70 employees that develops and manufactures its own electronics in Cheb (control units for wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations) and access control systems. Hardware development, firmware, and manufacturing all take place under one roof, so you'll see the results of your work in real products. You won't just be testing forms in an application (you'll have actual hardware, measuring equipment, and devices used in the field in front of you). This position is also suitable for a more junior tester interested in hardware and the embedded world.
Job responsibilities: functional testing of firmware and application software on real hardware (prototypes and production units), creation and maintenance of test scenarios according to specifications and requirements, documentation of tests and bugs in the Jira system according to established company methodology, reproduction of reported bugs, precise description and handover to developers, regression testing before release of new firmware versions, close cooperation with a small team of hardware and firmware/software developers on testability of requirements, work with laboratory and measuring equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supplies). We require: experience with software or firmware testing (1-2 years is sufficient, even from a field other than embedded), systematicity, patience, meticulousness (you enjoy finding why something doesn't work and developing the problem to a clear description of how to reproduce it), basic knowledge of electronics or willingness to learn it (you don't need to know how to design circuits, just willingness to work with test fixtures, measurements, and simple communication interfaces), experience with bug tracking tools (Jira is a plus), fluent knowledge of Czech or Slovak (team working language) and English at the level of reading technical documentation, willingness to work on-site in Cheb (testing is done on real hardware and laboratory equipment, so work is mostly on-site), advantages include (basic scripting skills - Python - we plan partial test automation in the future, experience with embedded devices, communication protocols - e.g. UART, Modbus, etc., or measuring equipment, ability to read circuit diagrams).
