The unit's mission includes providing support to students and prospective students before, during, and after their studies through guidance, admissions, exams, and graduation. The Education Unit also provides support and services to institutions and faculties in managing educational administration matters. We manage and develop system support for academic administration. You will be part of the Exam Section, which consists of administrators and exam invigilators. The section is responsible for the university's shared examination halls. There are 775 exam seats distributed across eight examination halls located at Första and Andra Långgatan and Reutersgatan. https://www.gu.se/om-universitetet/hitta-organisation/sektionen-for-tentamen Job Responsibilities As an exam invigilator, you are an important part of ensuring that exams at University of Gothenburg's shared examination halls are conducted in a safe, fair, and legally secure manner. Your responsibilities include: receiving students, checking their registration and ID ensuring that exams start and end correctly, both for digital exams and paper-based exams supervising the examination hall during the exam, being alert to disruptive or unauthorized behavior, and reporting any violations providing students with clear information and answering questions about rules and procedures contributing to creating a calm and respectful environment for students The majority (90%) of examination hall exams are now conducted digitally. Digital exams are administered in a digital system that you as an exam invigilator also work in. As an exam invigilator, you are therefore also responsible for basic IT support. This includes assisting students with login, network connection, installation and updating of specific programs, and support in using the digital exam system. At University of Gothenburg, work is primarily conducted in a Windows environment, but many students use Mac computers. You need to feel confident in the role and be able to handle situations where a student questions rules or behaves confrontationally. As an exam invigilator, you must be alert to what is happening in the hall and be prepared to act in suspected violations of rules to maintain legal security and quality in exam administration. To ensure equal treatment and legal security, there is a comprehensive handbook with procedures and instructions for the work of exam invigilators. It is important that you follow these procedures carefully so that all students receive the same conditions and treatment regardless of which exam invigilator they encounter. Qualifications Please see the competency profile on our website. Employment The position is fixed-term but no later than 2027-12-31 and will be placed in the Exam Section of the Education Unit. Start date 2026-11-15 or by agreement. Your official job title at the university will be Assistant. The position is intermittent, meaning you work as needed and receive hourly pay for the shifts you work. We cannot therefore guarantee a certain number of work shifts or work hours.
