Ref: 20262088 Job Responsibilities As a support educator, your job responsibilities are to support, activate, and guide individuals in their daily lives at either a children's residential facility or short-term residential facility depending on where you are hired. Together with other staff, you are responsible for planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating the activities. The overarching goal is to keep the user's needs at the center and to continuously adapt the content so that it is meaningful for the user. You help create conditions for the users' stay in the form of activities and opportunities for social contact. As a support educator, it is your task to meet the goals in the LSS plan regarding self-determination, participation, and integrity for the individual user. You perform daily and planned support measures that are based on the user's individual needs and wishes in accordance with LSS. Examples of tools for this are the development of implementation plans, other documentation, and evidence-based methods. You should help create a meaningful and safe stay where the activities are shaped according to the users' specific strengths, interests, and needs. Care work is part of the role. Qualifications We are looking for someone with post-secondary education comprising at least 200 YH credits or 60 higher education credits. The education should have a clear focus on the disability field and/or the behavioral science field. To be suitable for the position, we want you to have experience working within LSS for at least 1 year. You also have at least 1 year's experience working with people with autism and/or intellectual disabilities. We consider it a merit if you have previous experience with social documentation and MarteMeo. If you have also worked with children with disabilities or with challenging behavior or AAC, that is a merit. You have good computer skills and can express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish. A B-category driver's license for manual transmission is a requirement. Swimming proficiency is a merit. Great weight is placed on personal suitability. In the position, you will support children and young people with disabilities who show high sensitivity and therefore place high demands on your attentiveness to their needs to feel well. You should therefore have a low-affect approach and understand challenging behavior. About the Workplace The children's residential facility serves children and young people who have been granted permanent housing under LSS §9:8. All users have an autism diagnosis, and challenging behavior occurs in daily work. The users have varying needs, interests, and wishes. The support and activities are driven by need and carried out individually with the individual user or together with other users in a group. In the Disability Support Department, over 3,000 employees work together to create and develop even better support and services for people with disabilities. Our operations are within LSS, social psychiatry, personal assistance, companions, and relief services, and health and medical care. Children with serious illness who are cared for at home are also part of our mission.
