Join us and contribute to the future of education! About the Job You will be responsible for producing, publishing, and developing official statistics together with your immediate colleagues. As a statistician, your role is to plan and further develop our data collections, review data, and produce statistics for publication. You will also perform the supplementary processing needed for analysis and be responsible for developing programs when changes occur. Your main focus area will be statistics on upper secondary school grades. Several reforms in the education sector are currently underway that will impact statistics both now and in the coming years. Skolverket is the government agency responsible for Sweden's official statistics on the school system and childcare. Each year we collect data and report statistics on children, students, staff, costs, and educational outcomes. In addition to official statistics, we also publish other statistics. Our statistics serve as important material for decision-makers, researchers, other agencies, media, and the public. Demand for our statistics is therefore high. With us, you will have varied tasks at the intersection of statistics, programming, analysis, law, and communication, where you produce facts about schools that are needed both internally and externally. Christina Sandström, Section Manager * * * * * We are seeking a person for our statistics activities within Skolverket's analysis department, the section for upper secondary and adult education statistics. The section has approximately 20 employees. In the department, your colleagues work on investigating matters in government assignments, following up or evaluating reforms and school development initiatives, participating in international studies, and managing registers. You will work at our modern and spacious office in Solna Business Park. You will also have the opportunity to work up to 50 percent remotely. Read more at www.skolverket.se/jobb For this job, you should have: - a college or university degree with a focus on statistics or another relevant field as we assess it, - several years of current experience working as a statistician, - very good knowledge of SAS or R, - experience working with large data sets, - excellent ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish. It is meritorious if you have knowledge of databases and structured data, experience working with production of official statistics, and questions within the education sector. As a person, you need to: - be driven, thorough, and have good analytical ability, - be able to understand complex issues while maintaining a holistic perspective, - see areas for improvement and take initiative to find new solutions, - have a flexible and unpretentious approach as work tasks can vary in size and scope, - have good collaboration skills and appreciate working with colleagues who have different competencies and experiences.
