Description
We are seeking a motivated employee for the Department of Medical Bioscience to work on an ongoing project on the pre-clinical effects of knocking out c-Myc using chemical substances that bind to MDM2. The work includes biochemical analyses of the interaction between MDM2 and c-Myc mRNA, cell biological effects, and inhibition of tumor growth in mice.
The employment is fixed-term, 11 months full-time.
Duties
Your workplace is the Department of Medical Bioscience at Umeå University. Your task as a Staff Scientist in the project involves the following:
Analyze how new chemical substances affect the interaction between MDM2 and c-Myc mRNA by using established in vitro protocols.
Analyze transcriptomic and proteomic effects in cells after c-Myc knockout.
Analyze effects on tumors treated with c-Myc inhibitors.
Other administrative tasks may also be included, such as handling orders and presenting results to colleagues within and outside the group.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who hold a doctoral degree in medical science. You should have knowledge and experience in biochemical in vitro work with RNA-protein interactions, as well as cell biological work and RNA analyses. Experience with animal studies is a plus.
We are looking for you who have good communication and administrative skills, as the project involves many different parties. Strong scientific drive is expected.
It is an advantage if you have specific experience in molecular oncology.
Since communication within the department/work group takes place in both Swedish and English, we see that you have good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English in both speech and writing.
Great weight will be given to personal suitability.
