Sweden's control of airspace depends on sensors and communications systems that are active around the clock. To support this, there are mobile systems to enhance radar and radio coverage where air warfare demands it. This is the Sensor Company's mission: to ensure that assigned systems are positioned where needed and deliver information to the air force's combat operations. About the Unit The Combat Battalion's Sensor Company is unique in solving its tasks. The company's two platoons currently handle the tactical radar systems PS-871 and PS-861, and the air radio systems TMR30B and TMR50. Solving these tasks requires a broad range of capabilities such as mast and tower work, heavy vehicle operations, and system training; in addition to common soldier service. Main Responsibilities As a staff assistant in the company, you are part of the company leadership. Day-to-day, you are primarily a chief of staff support where you assist the company leadership with handling and follow-up of matters and administrative support. Beyond this, you assist others in the company staff and platoon leadership with the same competencies. During operations, you follow the company leadership and staff to the command post. You assist the company leadership with monitoring the operational groups' task completion and status, and assist staff members with their tasks where you can. The company's operations are broad in scope, which means that in addition to your primary duties, you can develop competencies in fields relevant to the company. Competencies and qualifications that may be relevant include driver's licenses for trucks and wheel loaders, establishing and maintaining generators, climbing, or medical care. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and protection of Uppsala Airport as well as training conscripts in various positions in the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion, which directs fighter aircraft in flight and maintains continuous monitoring of Swedish airspace.
