We are the emergency clinic in Sweden that has come the furthest in the development and implementation of emergency physicians. Our operations are characterized by a process-oriented approach where all professional disciplines work together as teams. We are now seeking a new colleague as one of our physicians moves on to new roles within Region Östergötland. Our Offer The Emergency Department has an extensive educational mandate for AT-physicians and ST-physicians in several other specialties. We also conduct research and teaching in emergency medicine and have our own research unit. As Sweden's first university clinic, we conduct emergency medicine as an independent academic activity. As an ST-physician, you take an active role in supervising medical students in the new 12-semester medical education program. This gives you the opportunity to develop your pedagogical skills and contribute to the education of tomorrow's physicians. For several years, we have staffed the specialist physician line at the emergency department at Motala lasarett (LiM) around the clock. As an ST-physician, you will also serve at LiM, which gives you the opportunity to work in another emergency care environment and at the same time be part of developing and shaping the future emergency care in Motala. Your training plan will be designed individually in consultation with you and the director of studies, with the goal that you will achieve specialist competence in emergency medicine according to the Swedish Board of Health and Welfare's objectives and taking into account SWESEM and EUSEM recommendations. Each semester we offer recurring further education for ST-physicians from throughout Region Östergötland. In addition, case-based STÅR training is conducted every week with direct supervision by experienced emergency medicine specialists. This gives you access to continuous professional development, structured supervision and good opportunities to influence the specialty's continued development. Job Description The Emergency Department at Linköping University Hospital (US) is part of the Nearby Care in central Östergötland and has approximately 195 employees, of which 64 physicians and 40 emergency medicine specialists. We receive approximately 50,000 patients annually, of which fewer than 20 percent are admitted to the hospital for continued care. At the Emergency Department, we work in multiprofessional teams. As an ST-physician, you serve as a physician in various teams and work closely with nurses and nursing assistants. One of our teams is focused on critically ill and unstable patients, which gives you the opportunity to develop your expertise in advanced emergency care. As Sweden's first emergency clinic, we staff an on-call line in emergency medicine around the clock. The on-call line has operational responsibility for the emergency department, functions as team leader in acute care units, supervises colleagues and provides medical advice to ambulance services. One of our development areas is a sectioning within different parts of emergency medicine, such as acute geriatrics, pediatric emergency medicine, Critical Care, POCUS, disaster and prehospital medicine. The sections have a strong focus on interprofessional collaboration and education and give you as an ST-physician good opportunities to specialize in areas that particularly interest you. About You We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in and commitment to emergency medicine. The position requires Swedish medical license, which should be attached to your application, as well as good knowledge of the Swedish language. Experience in research and teaching is an asset.
