The Position and Responsibilities We are seeking an engaged and organized special education teacher for the middle grades. We are now looking for a special education teacher who is passionate about identifying students' strengths and removing obstacles through practical, customized solutions. As a special education teacher with us, you have a central role in students' knowledge development and well-being. You are part of a close and engaged team working together with classroom teachers, subject teachers, and a social pedagogue, where you meet students from both an academic and a psychosocial perspective. As a special education teacher, you are an important part of helping Botkyrka Municipality become Sweden's best school municipality, where students succeed in school and develop according to their unique abilities. You shall be able to conduct targeted special instruction individually, in small groups, and as classroom support. In close collaboration with subject and classroom teachers, you work to assess and develop documentation for special support (USS) to create a comprehensive picture of the student's learning environment, and you develop and follow up on intervention plans (ÅP) so that interventions are concrete, measurable, and meaningful. In your role, you conduct instruction and related tasks such as preparation and follow-up on teaching, and participate in grading discussions. You are part of a team and participate in the team's collective work. You contribute to a positive learning environment through active participation in the team and in the special education teacher network. Together, your focus is on students' knowledge development. You also collaborate with other school staff. You actively participate in the school's values-based work and work inclusively. You are committed to staying current as a special education teacher through professional awareness, professional development, and collegial learning. Assessment of special support needs and intervention plans are a central part of your role through collaboration on student and class matters, contact with guardians, absence management and development discussions, as well as collaboration with authorities and social services. In your role, you are an active member of the student support team. You are expected to be able to work with digital tools in your documentation and teaching. You are expected to have comprehensive oversight of students' needs for support and additional accommodations at your level and assist the assistant principal in contacting teachers and guardians. You are part of the school's student support team (EHT) together with the school nurse, counselor, school psychologist, career guidance counselor, and school leadership, plus three additional special education teachers. There we collaborate on systematic work with attendance and absence to maintain high-quality support work. We are looking for someone who is a certified special education teacher with a focus on the middle grades. You have good experience conducting challenging conversations, meeting with guardians in a secure and professional manner, and creating a predictable school day for the students who need it most. Here we have an engaged faculty, and the middle grades team consists largely of classroom teachers, which creates a peaceful atmosphere at the school. We have accessible school leadership.
