Ref: 20262130 Job Responsibilities We are seeking a special education teacher to work at our adapted primary school with a subject-area focus. You will work as a special education teacher in close collaboration with teaching assistants in your classroom. You will also be part of a teaching team with other teachers at the adapted primary school. You will work with students in grades 1-3 in subject areas. Your responsibilities include planning, instruction, and assessment to develop each student based on the curriculum and other governing documents. You work preventatively and create accessible learning environments for each student based on their individual circumstances and needs. You need to be flexible and able to adapt your working methods based on the school's needs. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is a certified teacher with postgraduate training as a special education teacher specializing in intellectual disabilities. Previous experience working in an adapted primary school and as a special education teacher is a merit. You should have knowledge of AAC, sign language support (TAKK), and visual supports to help students with communication. In the adapted primary school, you will meet students with neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPF). You need to have knowledge about students with autism and ADHD and understand low-arousal approaches. You need strong knowledge of the school's governing documents. It is important that you also have good didactic and pedagogical skills and knowledge of relevant digital tools. You can work independently, lead, and organize your work to create a good learning environment throughout the day. Your role includes leading teaching assistants in their work so they can support students effectively. You need good collaboration skills and experience leading others is an advantage.
