Kalix Hospital is a regional hospital with the motto "Greatness in a small hospital". We have two inpatient wards: the Internal Medicine, Palliative Care unit with 12 beds and the Rehabilitation/Stroke unit with 12 beds. Kalix Hospital was named Sweden's 5th best small hospital by Dagens Medicin in 2016, and the Rehabilitation/Stroke unit received honorable mentions in 2016, 2017, and 2018 for excellent stroke care in the national stroke registry's annual ranking, and was named "best stroke unit" in 2019, 2020, and 2024. Kalix Hospital also achieved 7th place in Sweden in the latest AT ranking, the best hospital in the region.
Kalix Hospital is one of five hospitals in the region; the catchment area includes the municipalities of Kalix, Haparanda, Övertorneå, and Överkalix with approximately 33,000 residents. We also offer outpatient services in general internal medicine, neurology, urology, (general surgery), hematology, ophthalmology, oncology, dialysis care, physiotherapy, and open rehabilitation.
At the treatment unit, minor surgical procedures and endoscopic examinations are performed. We collaborate across borders with the goal of providing high-quality care for each patient throughout the entire care pathway. Now we need to expand our specialist teams! Could you be our future colleague?
We are looking for
We are seeking you with Swedish medical license and strong Swedish language skills at C1 level, both spoken and written. As chief physician, you should have several years of distinguished service (minimum 4 years) as a specialist physician with broad and extensive knowledge in the specialty and/or relevant subspecialty required for work in the clinic. Competence to serve as independent on-call physician, which means medical leadership responsibility during on-call duty. Beneficial to be a specialist in gastroenterology and internal medicine.

You take responsibility for your task, structure your work, and work independently while maintaining good collaboration skills, as you value and recognize the benefits of working with others. You have empathic ability and can put yourself in another person's perspective or situation without taking on their emotions. You see the bigger picture and consider the broader perspective.
What you will work with
You will work independently and manage outpatient services within your specialty, with close collaboration with respective specialties in the clinic and be part of that work team. Work is planned and varied with outpatient services and ward responsibility on our inpatient units.
Working with and paying attention to workflows is important. We work with continuous improvements with patient safety and work environment in focus.

Information about the position
We offer you a permanent full-time position, daytime work including on-call duty. Start date by agreement. Region Norrbotten applies individual salary setting according to collective agreement.
