The Children and Youth Unit is part of Individual and Family Services within the Social Services Department. We work with children and young people aged 0–20 and are organized in teams based on age. Our team includes a unit manager, two senior social secretaries, and 18 social secretaries with a shared focus on the best interests of the child. As a social secretary, you will receive close support from a senior social secretary through regular check-ins, supervision, and guidance. As a new employee, you will receive a thorough introduction and you will never work alone here. We help each other, share knowledge, and foster a strong sense of community. A workplace where you can develop and thrive We offer: Flexible working hours and the possibility to work remotely up to 40 percent. Reasonable workload and good work-life balance. External supervision and continuous professional development. Wellness allowance and the opportunity for flexible vacation planning. Responsibilities As a social secretary for children and youth, you will work with authority functions according to the Social Services Act and the Care of Young Persons Act. Your main responsibilities include: Processing incoming applications and reports. Assessing children's and young people's need for support, assistance, and protection. Making decisions and following up on approved interventions. Contributing to development work related to the future of social services. You will work closely with children, young people, families, and their networks. It is important that those we meet feel that their perspectives, strengths, and own suggestions for solutions are valued and utilized. Collaboration with colleagues and external partners is an important part of the role. Qualifications We are seeking someone with a degree in social work. Experience with authority functions in child and youth services is a merit, but we also welcome those at the beginning of their careers. Knowledge and experience with BBIC and Signs of Safety are advantageous. To thrive with us, you are reliable, responsible, and have strong collaboration skills. You can work independently, remain calm in challenging situations, and you have a professional and empathetic approach. You have strong analytical abilities. We also value that you are curious, organized, and want to contribute to the development of our services. You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and have good digital competence. Great importance is placed on personal suitability and ability to fit into the work team. Terms of Employment Permanent position with start date November 2, 2026, or by agreement. Individual salary determination applies. Driver's license category B is required. We apply annual working hours, which means you can have some influence over your working hours based on business needs. Our normal working hours are 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. A probationary period may apply.
