Igelsta Elementary School is characterized by a pleasant and welcoming work environment. Today we have approximately 500 students from preschool through grade 9 and about 65 staff members. An active student wellness team exists at the school and includes a counselor, school nurse, special education coordinator, special education teacher, assistant principals, and principal. Our classrooms are inviting and creative learning environments. Crafts, art, and music rooms and a fantastic library encourage curiosity, love of reading, and creativity. Your Responsibilities As a counselor at a school, no two days are the same. The work is characterized by meetings with students individually and in groups. As a counselor in Södertälje Municipality, you have support from a network of counselors at other schools in the municipality with regular meetings. At Igelsta Elementary School, you will find a pleasant work environment with creative and positive colleagues who support each other, and you will meet wonderful students. You have close collaboration with staff at the school regarding our students. You move through the school's facilities both during lessons and at recess. You plan various activities inside and outside the classroom to create and increase well-being and safety together with teachers. As a counselor at Igelsta Elementary School, you are there where the students are! You are an important part of the school's engaging student wellness team where you contribute social and psychosocial expertise at all levels of the school—individual, group, and organization/system. You participate in meetings with guardians, students, and teachers and collaborate with social services and other partners when needed. Your responsibilities include managing the school's attendance work and following up and supporting students and teachers regarding bullying and discrimination. You conduct supportive and motivational conversations with students, consultations with guardians, and support to work teams and school leadership. This position is a temporary position for 1 year starting in January. Who Are You? Requirements: - We are looking for someone with a degree in social work (socionom). Meriting: - You have experience working in an elementary school (grades F-9) and/or social services, with relationship-building and supportive work with children and parents. Personal Qualities: - We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has good self-awareness in your professional role. - You have the ability to build good relationships and can communicate well with students, guardians, and other staff. - You can inspire and engage students both in groups and individually and meet them based on their individual situation. - You have a positive attitude and are interested in collaborating with others both within and outside the school. - You can meet students in different ways and have knowledge of various methods to reach them, such as discussion groups, values exercises, role play, drama, and similar activities. - You are creative and flexible in your approach to building relationships and meeting students where they are.
