Make a difference. Every day. The Infectious Disease Operations Area provides specialist healthcare in infectious diseases in both Malmö and Lund, with both inpatient and outpatient services. Infection Disease Department 2 in Malmö has 14 inpatient beds, including 2 intermediate care beds, meaning a level of care for patients with threatening or already developed organ dysfunction where organ support treatment may be needed or is needed. On the department, we also care for, investigate, and treat patients with many different types of infectious diseases. Examples include sepsis, pneumonia, endocarditis, and tuberculosis. An important part of our mission is also the function as a respiratory care unit where patients with respiratory failure due to lung diseases and neurological diseases are cared for. In fall 2025, we launched nursing councils based on the Magnet Model, a nursing model that Skåne University Hospital (Sus) has decided to work according to. We also work with various structures to implement person-centered care. Examples include our nursing rounds, which we started last fall, and the introduction of head-to-toe assessments where we systematically evaluate the patient's nursing needs together. We are in the starting blocks to implement the Competence and Service Model (KTM) for nurses, which consists of a structured development program in five phases that includes education and learning activities in each phase. Each phase is linked to a clear competence ladder where, starting from phase three, there is an opportunity to apply for a position as an advanced practice nurse. 1 position(s).
