The Geriatric Acute Care Unit in Helsingborg works with the elderly population. Our patients often have unique care needs and several different underlying conditions, with dementia and heart failure being among the most common. We work in interprofessional teams with the patient and family at the center. Here we meet both patients with acute illness and those at the end of life. Work on the unit takes place in interdisciplinary teams where physicians, nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, dietitians, medical secretaries, pharmacists, and occupational therapists work together. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES We now have the opportunity to welcome two colleagues to become part of our great team! Our approach is based on close and unpretentious collaboration among all professions on the unit to provide quality and safe care to our patients. We work according to Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA), a structured approach to elderly care that means the patient is assessed holistically in physical, psychological, functional, existential, and social aspects. This assessment then forms the basis for continued care and planning. As a nurse in this role, you have varied and stimulating work. You have nursing responsibility and lead the work during your shift. On the geriatric unit, we attend to each patient's needs and aim to preserve health while respecting the patient's wishes and will. We believe in a developing work environment where you continue to be proactive in your role. For those interested, there is an opportunity to alternate between the unit and acute care in your position as a nurse. The Geriatric Unit at Helsingborg Hospital is the first Silvia-certified care unit in Region Skåne. Swedish language skills at least equivalent to level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale are a requirement. It is a merit if you have specialist training in acute geriatrics and/or elderly care. Previous experience in dementia care and elderly care is also an advantage. We are looking for someone who is passionate about elderly care and has the holistic perspective needed to provide the best possible care.
