The Medical Acute Care Unit (MAVA) is part of Internal Medicine in Gävle and has 20 care beds. Here we care for acutely ill patients with medical conditions. The main diagnoses on the unit are cirrhosis, liver failure, heart problems/arrhythmias, intoxication and dependency, diabetes, electrolyte disturbances, as well as patients with other medical conditions such as infections, COPD or general decline. We work toward fast patient flow and short hospital stays.

JOB DUTIES
At MAVA, the work on each care team is divided between a registered nurse and a nursing assistant, and together you are responsible for five patients. Night staffing is divided between two registered nurses and two nursing assistants. In addition to the care teams, we have a receptionist and a care coordinator.
As a registered nurse with us, you will work with, among other things:
• preparation and administration of medications
• making quick assessments to maintain high patient flow
• coordinating care and medical interventions in close collaboration with nursing assistants, physicians and paramedics
• identifying risks and implementing measures based on the nursing process.

QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who want to work in an acute care environment. You want to develop broad, general knowledge in acute care nursing and you enjoy teamwork. We are looking for both newly graduated nurses and those experienced in the nursing profession. In your work, you are flexible, adaptable to rapid changes and appreciate the variety in daily work. You should also have good collaboration skills, be responsive and communicate well with others. We strive toward the same shared goals for our patients and prioritizing work efficiently is essential for doing good work.
In your role as a registered nurse, you should:
• be a licensed registered nurse with authorization to work in Swedish healthcare
• be able to communicate fluently in Swedish in both speech and writing.
