About the Department The Gastroenterology Clinic is one of several teams at the Medical Clinic at Sahlgrenska. We care for patients with various conditions of the digestive tract, such as inflammatory bowel disease and liver disease. At the Gastroenterology Clinic, staffed Monday through Friday, nurses, nursing assistants, and physicians work together in patient care. We conduct investigations, provide treatment and follow-up, and offer patient guidance through both in-person visits and via telephone and digital contacts. We collaborate closely with other units within the Section for Gastroenterology & Hepatology, such as our inpatient ward and endoscopy unit, which provides significant development opportunities for both the department and individual employees. Patients with gastrointestinal disease who were previously treated in inpatient care are now largely managed in outpatient settings. We have taken clear and deliberate steps in this direction and have established a well-functioning day care clinic at the Gastroenterology Clinic. An expanded research program is now being established at the Gastroenterology Clinic, both in hepatology and inflammatory bowel disease, integrated with clinical care for patients followed at the clinic. We see continued significant opportunities to create valuable collaborative spaces among all our units in gastroenterology. There is flexibility to work with various tasks and in different parts of the operation within a single position, allowing individual employees to gain considerable variety in their work if desired. Responsibilities The responsibilities of a Nurse at the Gastroenterology Clinic involve some specialization within specific diagnostic areas, while also requiring general competence in gastroenterology as a whole. Specific duties include administering parenteral medications, assisting with minor procedures such as specimen collection/biopsy, interacting with patients via telephone, in-person visits, and sometimes through digital systems, as well as performing certain administrative tasks. Research activities will increase at the Gastroenterology Clinic, making research an increasingly significant part of the operation. The work largely requires marked independence and is therefore highly stimulating. In situations where consultation with a colleague is needed, the conditions for this are favorable, with both other nurses in the unit and physicians available. Qualifications You are a licensed nurse with experience in gastroenterology care. Experience from clinical drug trials is a merit. We look forward to receiving your application!
