Nurse for the Surgical Care Unit

Your role as a nurse As a nurse, you will lead, plan, and organize specialized patient care, including pre- and postoperative care. We work in teams where you will have close collaboration with nursing assistants and physicians. In total, there are 4 teams on the unit during weekdays and three on weekends, so you will always have nursing colleagues to consult. Your tasks include clinical assessments, ward rounds, medication management, specimen collection, and social planning for patients. With us, you have the opportunity to gain broad expertise in various surgical diagnoses. Your future workplace We primarily care for patients with surgical diagnoses who need evaluation, examination, or surgery. Palliative patients at the end of life are also cared for in close collaboration with SSIH. The unit also has beds for urology as well as children over 4 years old. We accept both emergency and planned admissions. The Surgical Clinic's inpatient care at Höglandssjukhuset in Eksjö consists of four units specializing in upper abdomen, lower abdomen/palliative patients, emergency/pediatric, and urology. There are 30 care beds. The Surgical Care Unit in Eksjö is part of the Surgical Clinic in Region Jönköpings län, which since 2017 is a region-wide clinic with operations at three locations: Eksjö, Jönköping, and Värnamo. At all three locations, there are emergency departments and acute surgical care is provided 24/7, including surgery and intensive care. We value professional experience, particularly experience in acute care or surgical care is a merit. As a person, you are dedicated, stable, and remain calm in acute situations, and you have good collaboration skills. You have a solution-focused approach, work proactively, adapt easily to new situations, and have good ability to communicate with others and understand their perspectives. Our offer to you The position is a permanent full-time employment with day, evening, and weekend shifts. Your well-being is important to us and you are welcomed to a team with great cohesion and a good collaborative climate. • You will be part of a stable work group with collegial learning • Exciting work in acute care • Orientation tailored to your experience level • Daytime shifts are currently 6:45–16:00 and evening shifts 13:30–21:30, plus one shift 8:30–16:00 to transition from evening to day shifts. We use 11-week schedules that you have the opportunity to influence through individual schedule planning. We have scheduled operational development time with the opportunity for job shadowing Region Jönköpings län offers a region-wide introduction and development program (RIU) for newly graduated nurses. The program consists of 17 full days spread over eight months, and it starts each year in February and September. RIU gives you the opportunity to meet other nurses in the same situation where you exchange experiences and support each other.
