We are a smaller emergency department with approximately 14,000 visits each year and have close collaboration within the department as well as close cooperation with other clinics at the hospital. WORK DUTIES We receive patients with varying medical conditions within the specialties of internal medicine, surgery, and orthopedics. Within surgery and orthopedics, we also receive children, which adds even more variety to the work. In the emergency department, your role is central as the patients' first point of contact when we perform assessments and evaluations to understand care needs and any need for admission for further care. This is work where prioritization may need to be made immediately, and we truly make a difference for people when every second counts. We are proud of our employees and their expertise! Staff at the emergency department continuously develop their competence through, among other things, the following training programs: - AMLS, Advanced Medical Life Support, to identify, manage, and handle acutely ill patients. - ATSS, Acute Trauma Care for Nurses, with a focus on care during the first hour after trauma. - A-CPR. Advanced training to S-CPR. - Ultrasound-guided IV placement. - X-ray training that includes expanded knowledge regarding examination of extremities to independently write an x-ray referral when fracture is suspected. As a new employee at the emergency department, you will receive comprehensive and customized onboarding as well as a mentor.
