The Clinic for Anesthesia, Surgery and Intensive Care is located at Norrlands University Hospital in Umeå and provides intensive care for children and adults, acute and planned surgical care, anesthesia with associated postoperative care, and sterile services at the regional and county level in close collaboration with other clinics in the county. The clinic is also responsible for air-based intensive care in the northern region. The mission includes conducting research, development, and education. IMA – Intermediate Care Unit offers varied, exciting, and developmental work where care is provided for patients with failing organ function at a level that is difficult to achieve on a regular care ward, as organ support treatment may be needed or is required. We are a unit where we enjoy working together, have higher staffing levels, and access to medical-technical equipment that is not standard on a care ward. The unit is open 24/7, every day of the year. Patients are admitted from care wards or the emergency department. To facilitate the balance between work and leisure, we offer you the opportunity to participate in a work schedule model that allows more time for recovery and enables you to be involved in planning your work shifts. RESPONSIBILITIES As a nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that make people feel secure. At IMA you will meet patients who require advanced care and rehabilitation that cannot be provided on a regular care ward. Since it is a brand new unit with much that is new, work methods may need to change over time. Patients can come from all departments of the hospital and as a nurse with us you will have a varied daily routine and breadth in your expertise. It is important to us that everyone feels both stimulated and secure in their job. Therefore, we place great focus on in-depth orientation and mentorship. You are offered individual orientation of approximately 6 weeks. During orientation, you receive training together with your new colleagues in medical technology, medications, and work methods. The unit has an operations nurse 7 days a week. We care for patients of all categories, except thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, and pediatrics, developing our knowledge into a unique and broad knowledge base. You work closely with nursing assistants, physiotherapists, social workers, and doctors who together form a team around the patient and their families. Since Norrlands University Hospital is a university hospital, supervision of students is also part of the role. Student supervision gives us the opportunity to keep ourselves updated regarding routines and treatments for our patients. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. Experience from work in an intensive care unit is a merit. You have the ability to prioritize, are flexible and responsible. You have teamwork skills and see advantages in team collaboration while possessing the ability to work independently. You also actively contribute to a good work environment. We place great emphasis on personal qualities. Experience in acute care is meriting. If you already have employment within Region Västerbotten, there may be an opportunity for rotation service.
