The Swedish Prison and Probation Service (Statens institutionsstyrelse, SiS) is a government agency responsible for individualized involuntary care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also carries out closed youth care. We do this at youth institutions and facilities for adults with substance abuse throughout the country. SiS Youth Institution Stigby on Visingsö has capacity for 35 young people and receives non-school-age boys with psychosocial problems, criminality, and substance abuse issues. We are divided into an MBB unit (reception and needs assessment), four treatment units, and a discharge preparation unit in Jönköping. Job Description Do you want to be part of creating vital change for vulnerable people? Then the position of treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. The goal of your assignment is to motivate our young people toward new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you are employed to provide care and treatment. You contribute to making sure the routines on the unit function as intended. You play a major role in providing stability and security for our young people, and you form the foundation of daily life—schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. You work to maintain order and safety at the institution according to our procedures. Documentation is an important part of your work. You will work on building secure relationships and help our young people gain the security they need to break established behavior patterns. Together with your team of engaged colleagues, such as treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. Work hours are scheduled day, evening, and weekend shifts. As a new employee, you will complete SiS basic training over 10 weeks. The training alternates theory with guided introduction and prepares you for the treatment role in SiS operations. Qualifications Your personal suitability is key to vital change. Therefore, you need a strong ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a well-founded positive view of people, strong empathetic ability, and the ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can remain calm in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and enjoy sharing your knowledge with colleagues. You must also have: At least 2 years of post-secondary education from a folk high school or vocational school (KY/YH) or equivalent education. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.* B-category driver's license Good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written Meritorious are experience working with our target group (e.g., substance abuse care, youth care, etc.) At SiS, we value good co-worker relationships.
