About the Unit The Air Base Security Company F 16 consists of an air base security platoon, a sensor platoon (air defense platoon), and a rapid response platoon. The company's main tasks are to protect the air base and its surrounding area and to maintain and develop the capability to defend against near-range air and ground threats. The sensor platoon was started in early 2026 and is undergoing transformative development. The platoon participates in the company's and battalion's training activities as well as in live operations. Work can take place both in Sweden and internationally. The platoon's main tasks are: To detect, locate, and neutralize airborne systems through jamming and direct action. Develop methods for C-UAS (Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems) and UAV. Conduct training in UAV and C-UAS. Conduct airborne missions with UAV. Main Work Duties As GSS/K on the sensor platoon, you will initially be trained comprehensively on the sensors and operational assets that the platoon uses. Together with the platoon leadership, you will also develop means and methods for how the platoon shall accomplish tasks in varying terrain and time conditions. Your main work duties consist of: Develop means and methods for combating near-range air threats. Training exercises, operations, and missions, both nationally and internationally. Train the company and other parts of the squadron. Within the Swedish Armed Forces, we always work as a team. REQUIREMENTS Qualifications Completed military basic training Physical endurance and strength (at least 175 points multitest and maximum 13:30 min field test) Driver's license at least category B (manual transmission) Full color vision and 1.0 visual acuity Personal Qualities As a sensor soldier, you will handle several different technical systems in varying environments in your daily work. With this in mind, we see that you as an applicant have an interest in technology as much of the work involves working with and learning different systems. We also see that you have field experience as the work often takes place under varying conditions. Furthermore, the platoon's ongoing startup phase requires that you as an employee are flexible and can handle uncertainty with varying workload. Great importance is placed on personal suitability. MERITORIOUS Basic trained or previously employed in similar position, for example security units, electronic warfare, or air defense Training on current UAV or C-UAV systems within the Swedish Armed Forces, such as UAV06, Wingman, Pitbull, and/or Wolfpack Training/experience with ksp88 or automatic cannon (20–40 mm) Military driver's licenses, for example minibus, L/Tptgb, all-terrain vehicle, truck Experience in radar and/or air defense (including remote-controlled air defense) Completed military security guard training Suitable for Military Police For the agency's mission to be successful, all employees are expected to conduct themselves according to the values that exist. Other Information Employment Form The position is a fixed-term employment as GSS/K (group leader, soldiers and sailors with continuous service) for 8 years with the possibility of extension up to 12 years according to Law (2012:332) on certain Swedish Armed Forces employments. The Swedish Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the agency. Employment Level Full-time Work Location Uppsala. F 16 also has operations at other locations, which may result in occasional business trips. Working Hours Mainly daytime. Evening and weekend duty may occur during training and operational activities. Start Date Latest start date January 4, 2027 or by agreement with the employer. Other: Physical tests and security clearances will be conducted at F 16 in Uppsala on Saturday, November 14, with Sunday as a backup date. Medical tests will be conducted the same day. Information about the Swedish Armed Forces and the recruiting unit: Upplands Air Wing, F 16, is headquartered at Uppsala garrison. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and protection of Uppsala Airport as well as training conscripts in several different positions in the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Command and Air Surveillance Battalion which commands fighter aircraft in the air and maintains constant surveillance of Swedish airspace. The unit operates from several different locations in the country and is an important part of the growth period that the Air Force is facing.
