Tillväxtverket is a national agency with regional presence in nine locations. About Tourism Statistics Tillväxtverket is responsible for Sweden's official tourism statistics. Our statistics are used by the government, authorities, destinations, researchers, and businesses to monitor and develop the tourism industry in Sweden. We are at the forefront of new data sources and methods for statistical production and are internationally recognized for our work with Big Data and the development of modern statistical systems. We are responsible for the following statistical products and development projects in the tourism field: Accommodation Statistics Swedes' Travel Incoming Visitors to Sweden (IBIS) Tourism Accounts Environmental Tourism Accounts We use both traditional survey methods and register data, API collections, Big Data, and advanced statistical modeling to produce high-quality statistics. We present the results in reports, in our statistical portal, as open data, and at seminars and conferences both nationally and internationally. The position is placed in the Analysis and Statistics unit, in the Tourism Statistics group. The unit is responsible for analyses, surveys, and statistics that contribute to increased knowledge and learning within Tillväxtverket's areas of operation. Tillväxtverket also has a government mandate to promote sustainable and competitive development of Swedish tourism and the tourism industry. About the Position As a statistician in tourism statistics, you will participate in planning, implementation, and development of our statistical production. You will be an important part of a competent and engaged team where we together deliver high-quality statistics. We are now seeking a person who will initially contribute to Accommodation Statistics and our sample surveys Swedes' Travel and IBIS. However, you will also work with other parts of our statistical production. Your Responsibilities Work with data management, processing, and quality assurance within your projects. Make statistics accessible and communicate statistics through different channels (oral, written, and numerical), nationally and internationally. Deliver data and analytical materials internally and externally. Procure data collection and services related to statistical production. Participate in development work to strengthen quality and user value in our statistical products. Engage in dialogue with data providers, users, and collaboration partners. Follow up and evaluate the impact of our statistical products. Travel is part of the position. Place of Work: Malmö, Stockholm, Örebro, or Östersund. We are looking for someone who has (requirements): University or college education equivalent to at least three years of studies in an area that Tillväxtverket considers relevant for the position (of which at least two terms in one of the subjects mathematics, statistics, national economics, or cultural geography) At least two years of experience with statistical work Data management and programming skills in R, SAS, or other statistical and data programs Very good knowledge of Swedish Good knowledge of English The following are merits: Education in statistics at the master's level (or equivalent knowledge). Several years of experience with statistical work Experience producing official statistics at an authority with statistical responsibility Experience with own data collection Experience with imputation processes to handle non-response in surveys Experience with automated disclosure protection processes for statistics Experience with weighting and estimation in sample surveys Experience producing or developing national accounts, environmental accounts, or tourism accounts Project management experience Experience with analysis within statistics, national economics, or cultural geography Personal Qualities We are looking for someone who is analytical, structured, goal-oriented, and results-focused.
