Senior Project Manager for Environmental Assessment and Infrastructure – Göteborg Scope: 100% - full-time Start: No later than November 1, 2026, earlier start possible. Location: Göteborg area – primarily on-site work with very limited opportunity for remote work. About the assignment We are seeking a highly senior project manager for environmental assessment for a large-scale infrastructure project in the Göteborg area in a consultant role with our client. You will have a leading role in environmental assessment, environmental permitting, and licensing processes. The role involves responsibility for leading, managing, and monitoring environmental work as well as ensuring deliverables of the right quality based on schedule, cost, scope, and risk. You will also work closely with project management, technical specialists, consultants, and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities Lead and monitor environmental assessment and permitting work. Responsible for developing, delivering, and ensuring quality of environmental impact assessments and related environmental documentation. Drive planning and permitting processes. Manage environmental work based on schedule, cost, scope, and risk. Lead and coordinate consultants and other specialists in the environmental field. Manage contacts with municipalities, the public, and other external stakeholders. Actively participate in project management for a major infrastructure project. Requirements for the role You must meet all of the following requirements: University or college degree of at least 180 credits in environmental science, natural sciences, civil engineering, road and water infrastructure, or other education combined with experience that can be assessed as equivalent. At least 15 years of relevant work experience leading, managing, and monitoring environmental assessment and permitting in complex infrastructure projects. At least 5 years of relevant experience with planning and permitting processes in municipal or state planning for roads or railways, in projects with a value exceeding 200 MSEK. At least 10 years of experience as a generalist leading others in large infrastructure projects exceeding 200 MSEK. At least 5 years of relevant experience with environmental matters during the production phase in large infrastructure projects exceeding 200 MSEK. Documented knowledge of permitting processes according to the Environmental Code. Professional Swedish, spoken and written. Good English, spoken and written. Class B driver's license. Ability to work primarily on-site in the Göteborg area and to the extent required by the assignment. Meritorious qualifications It is particularly meritorious if you have very strong and current experience with: Environmental assessment and permitting processes in large road or railway projects. Leading both project organizations and external consultant organizations in the environmental field. Independently managing environmental deliverables against schedule, cost, and scope. Driving complex environmental impact assessment processes from planning to final delivery. Communicating environmental matters with authorities, municipalities, and other external stakeholders. Who we are looking for You are a confident and senior project manager who can combine deep understanding of environmental processes with clear leadership. You work in a structured manner, drive matters independently, and are accustomed to making decisions and creating momentum in large and complex projects. You also need to be communicative and able to create structure between multiple disciplines, consultants, and external stakeholders. Work location and arrangement Work is conducted primarily on-site in the Göteborg area. The opportunity for remote work is very limited. The assignment is approximately 100%. If an earlier start is possible, a gradual ramp-up may be possible, with reduced scope during October and November. Travel and work in the project environment may occur.
