About the Operation Borås Kulturskola, which has been operating for more than 80 years, is located in fresh facilities in Simonsland, centrally located in Borås city, and offers courses in music, dance, theater, visual arts, film, textile, and circus. Activities are also conducted at our service points Hässlehuset on Hässleholmen, Norrby, and Musikens hus in Fristad. Kulturskolan exists for the municipality's young people and plays a particularly important role in children and young people's leisure time. Kulturskolan offers approximately 2500 subject courses per week, conducts cultural school activities at eight primary school branches in the municipality, and has commissioned activities in preschool, primary school, special school, and secondary school. Kulturskolan also offers open activities within creative arts, music, and holiday programs. Together students and teachers create a large outward-focused operation with many performances, concerts, and exhibitions each year, which makes Kulturskolan an important and visible meeting place in the municipality. Approximately 52 teachers and administrative staff work with us to provide children and young people with meaningful leisure time. Job Responsibilities Now you have the opportunity to apply for an exciting and varied temporary position as a singing teacher at Borås Kulturskola as one of our regular singing teachers is on parental leave. In this position you teach students both individually and in groups at various levels, from beginners to secondary school students. You lead choirs for children and young people together with a colleague. You will also teach together with a colleague in our Kulår, a one-year introductory course offered to all students in grade 1 in the municipality, and work in our family activities at our service point in Norrby, which is one of Borås city's prioritized areas. In your position you also lead a multigenerational choir for students with functional variations. You are responsible for organizing, administering, and leading instruction within your areas and for planning and conducting concerts and projects together with colleagues. You become part of a subject team with high ambitions and a strong desire to create meaningful activities for the municipality's children and young people. You plan and conduct instruction with focus on students' development, participation, and enthusiasm for music and artistic expression. You actively work to give children and young people influence over their learning by making use of their ideas and interests. Through a responsive and inclusive approach, you adapt instruction to each student's needs and circumstances, and encourage students to take their own initiative and participate in the content of instruction. Work may involve service during evenings, weekends, and during school holidays. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is passionate about children and young people's development and wants to help Kulturskolan continue to be an important meeting place in the municipality for children and young people. You are an engaging and inspiring singing and choir teacher, and it is meritorious if you can also accompany on piano. You have music teacher education with singing as your main subject or other appropriate higher education that is suitable for the position. You feel confident using both ear training and music reading in your teaching. Experience is a requirement. B driver's license is a requirement. We consider it meritorious if you have worked within a Kulturskola or similar operation. It is also meritorious if you have worked in StudyAlong. As a person you have good collaboration skills, work in a structured manner, and demonstrate high personal maturity. We also value cultural awareness, independence, and your ability to build good relationships with colleagues, students, and guardians. You have good social competence and a professional demeanor.
