Färgelanda Municipality Färgelanda Municipality is located in the heart of Dalsland – where sparkling lakes, deep forests, and a rich outdoor lifestyle meet, with proximity to Uddevalla, Vänersborg, and Trollhättan. We are a smaller municipality with short decision-making paths, strong cohesion, and a culture where openness, participation, and initiative are natural parts of everyday life. Our values – engaged, enterprising, and with good service – permeate the entire organization. With us, you quickly become an important part of the whole. With approximately 500 employees across Care, Children & Education, Community Development, and Administration, we offer a work environment where security, development opportunities, and community go hand in hand. In Färgelanda, it's easy to thrive – both at home and at work. Want to help develop Färgelanda? Do you want to work with issues that affect how the municipality develops in the long term? As a Community Development Strategist at Färgelanda Municipality, you will have a key role in physical planning, sustainable growth, and development of attractive living environments. You work closely with politicians, officials, businesses, and residents, and contribute to creating conditions for a growing and sustainable Färgelanda. We are now seeking a Community Development Strategist who wants to help shape the municipality's future. Your Assignment As a Community Development Strategist at Färgelanda Municipality, you will have a central and varied role, working with the entire community development process – from long-term strategic planning to implementation in concrete projects, and also serving as a resource within the Fyrbodal Municipal Cooperation, which means you can contribute expertise to projects with other cooperating municipalities as needed. The position includes responsibility for strategic physical planning, including comprehensive plans and other governing documents for long-term planning, as well as coordination in other community development matters, such as land and development, detailed planning, infrastructure, building permits, environment, and cooperation with road associations and local traffic. Work Tasks In your role as a Community Development Strategist, you are responsible for leading and developing the municipality's strategic and physical planning. The work includes, among other things, comprehensive planning, development of planning guidelines, and creation of long-term strategies for the municipality's growth and development. You are also responsible for and actively participate in detailed planning processes, from early investigation and planning stages through to adoption. As a Community Development Strategist, you also serve as project manager for community development projects where multiple operations and actors collaborate. The role involves close cooperation with building, land, and development operations to ensure efficient, legally sound, and service-oriented processes. Furthermore, you participate in the municipality's business development work and contribute to creating good conditions for entrepreneurship, establishment, and sustainable development. The assignment also includes responsibility for the municipality's mapping and GIS systems, as well as preparing decision-making documentation and providing strategic support to the political organization. You cooperate with regional actors, authorities, municipalities, and other stakeholders through various networks and forums, and are responsible for preparing and responding to referrals within the community development area. Through broad cooperation and a holistic perspective, you contribute to developing the municipality and creating long-term sustainable solutions for residents, businesses, and visitors. Qualifications We are looking for someone with relevant higher education in, for example, community planning, physical planning, or another field that the employer considers equivalent. You have experience with municipal community development work and a good understanding of both strategic and operational issues in the field. To succeed in the role, you need good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and an understanding of the various parts of the community development process. It is advantageous if you have experience with strategic planning and work on comprehensive plans. You are experienced in coordinated work, driving processes forward, and leading projects where multiple actors and interests collaborate. The role also requires that you can communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, and that you have the ability to build good relationships and cooperate with both colleagues and external actors and elected officials. We would like you to have experience working in a smaller municipal organization, where breadth of assignment, flexibility, and ability to see the bigger picture are crucial for success. It is also advantageous if you have knowledge and experience in environmental and sustainability issues, as well as an interest in integrating these perspectives into the municipality's long-term development work. Who Are You? We believe you are a person who combines strategic thinking with good analytical ability and who thrives in a role where you work close to operations and translate long-term goals into practical implementation. You work in a structured and solution-oriented manner, take responsibility for driving processes forward, and feel confident making decisions and handling complex issues. To succeed in the role, you need to be communicative and find it easy to build good relationships and cooperate with both colleagues and elected officials, authorities, businesses, and other external actors. You are unpretentious in your approach, actively contribute to a good collaborative climate, and see the value of working together to achieve common goals. Above all, you have a genuine commitment to community development and are driven by creating long-term sustainable and attractive environments for residents, businesses, and visitors. Are You Our New Community Development Strategist? We look forward to learning more about you and what you can contribute to the role. We welcome your application! We respectfully but firmly decline direct contact from staffing and recruitment companies as well as sellers of additional job postings.
